  1. Hello Paul

For NCL tours the Concierge will take your Yellow tour tickets and get you "bus stickers" then take you to the front of the queue.

For private tours I.m sure he.she would do the same.

Remember that Platinum and above do not have to get tickets but just join the queue (at the back) showing their card. when they are ready

    Mike

Thanks again! Platinum.... some day I hope

  2. If you have an NCL shorex (not a private one) you will meet in the theatre (normally) and be taken to the tenders as a group if it is an early morning tour. If it is a later morning or afternoon one you may have to make your own way.

Getting back on the boat you get no help, join the queue!!

Hi Mike, do you know if people in suites get priority access to tender tickets on NCL? I read a review stating the tender tickets for non-suite guests were distributed separately.

    Cheers

    Paul

  3. "I rent bikes" is the name of the company in Naples. It's either a 5 hour ride with drivebys of vesuvius and Pompeii or 6-7 hrs with brief stops. It's really hard to find these places sometimes because most companies just want either 500 euros for 2 people or being jammed with 40 others. We like fresh air and exercising so this was perfect. We rent bikes everywhere usually wherever we go that has halfway decent bike trails. This however I was more comfortable with a guide though as it's not smooth terrain in some spots.

That bike tour and route sounds like a good way to do it! Where did you book that? I have googled but cant find anything.

    Thx

Thanks! Seems like booking shorex with the cruiseline is the way to go! I don't fancy getting up stupid early to queue for tender tickets

  6. The first point is normal. They will often start early when there are lots of people lining up early. The information states that 1 person should get tickets for ALL their group who should meet as a party.

On the second the anchorage has nothing to do with NCL it is the Port Authority. Also if everyone arrives to tender back to the boat it is normal to have a long wait. The wharf can often only deal with 2 tenders at the same time as can the boat. Even with 6, the normal number they use, they can only carry so many at the same time.

I hope the poster took it up with the Hotel Director when he got back on board.

Thanks Mike! If you book a shore excursion at a tender port are the tender tickets given to you with the excursion voucher or do you need to queue up like everyone else?

  7. We're on the same cruise but I hadn't read the horrible reviews - what did they say? Any tendering is always a pain but was there something special?

This is one of the reviews I found on this site:

    CONS

    * The tender tickets distribution is the worst I’ve experienced. They notify you the previous afternoon what time to go. On two occasions tickets were supposed to be distributed from 6:30am to 7:30am, which means that you must get up extremely early on spite of being on vacations. On both occasions I made the line prior to 6:00 am only to get late tenders. Upon arrival to the clerk that was distributing the tickets I witnessed other guests being given as many as 30 tender tickets to an individual. Rather than having a cap per cabin, it was a free for all which caused many guests, like me, to be irritated with this system.

    * At the Kotor stop the ship was anchored at the middle of the bay which caused a long trip between the tender ships and the port. Upon returning to the port to take the tender ship, we had to make a line of over an hour, since they were not prepared. Not a single NCL official was on shore to address the situation.

  8. Take a cab to the old city and walk the wall. it's only a mile or two from the pier. The old city is amazing. Walk around the wall, I thinks it's about $20, then head down into the city and hit the shops and bars. there's a really cool wine bar called Matusko that is basically carved into the hill (like a cave inside). There's also a cool restaurant down in the harbor right below the fortress that's nice to sit in and have some food and a few bottles of wine. Pretty good white wines and cheap too.
    Thanks !!

  9. Hi all!

On the June 10 Star cruise we only tendered at Santorini. There was the possibility we'd have to tender at Mykonos but luckily that didn't happen. We had a nice close berth in Kotor but at Mykonos you have to take a free shuttle bus out of the port area then it's quite a walk to the town.

This was an amazing cruise, the places are so beautiful but were really HOT.

    Hi Jo,

How was the tender process at Santorini? Was it ticketed? How long after the Star anchored did you actually get onto the island? I am taking the Oct 28th Star cruise and it is stopping off in Santorini.

    Thanks!:):)

  10. Hi Everyone,

Our cruise arrives in Dubrovnik at 1pm on Oct 29th, and depart 9pm. Sunset is around 4.45pm so we have limited daylight hours. My question is, what time can we actually expect to be off the ship , will there be queues to get off?

Any recommendations on how to spend 8 hours in Dubrovnik with limited day light?

Want to make the most of our time here, as have heard this is the best port on our itinerary.

Any advise at all would be helpful!

    Thanks

    Paul
