  1. Thanks for the tips so far will definitely check out the rain cover. I had no idea you could go between the cars on the train will give that a shot for sure would love some guaranteed  no glare pics. Was wondering would a hood that would allow me to basically press the lens to the glass help cut down the glare ? If I can reach the glass.

  2. Hi was wondering if anyone has some tips for an amateur shutter bug. I have a Nikon D5000 and will have two lenses 18-55 and 55-200. I’m going on a two week tour one week land one week on cruise ship. Highlights include whale watching, glacier bay, train ride, and day trip into Denali. I know traveling through Alaska will require a lot taking pics through glass on the bus and trains. Dose anyone have suggestions for clear pics shooting like that? Also was thinking of buying/bringing a disposable rain cover is that worth it? Other delema is which lens to use as primary? I’m not the fastest at switching them let along juggling them on a boat or bus. I would love some nice close up shots of animals as well as some scenery pics I can blow up and frame.  I have a back up battery and lots of SD cards.

  3. Hi I’ve been trying to figure out which hotel to stay at in Seattle next May after Alaska cruise on Princess’s Golden. We will be doing two nights and thus was thinking staying downtown closer to space needle or Pikes Peak. Was wondering if any one had suggestions on how to get from airport to this area? Preferably for a reasonable price. I’ve found there is a luggage storage option in the airport has anyone utilized it before? Better to check the bags in and then take the train? Or just pony up for a taxi or Uber ? Oh and I’m taking my mother who is 70 so little limited on helping me lugging the luggage.

  4. Hi ok so this I’m sure will sound silly to those who cruise all the time but is the dine line an actual # or a button on the phone ?  I haven’t been on a cruise in over 10 yrs going to Alaska next May on the golden and really hopping to get the chef table. So reading up on best way to get on this coveted list as soon as I possibly can.

We usually grab a Head Waiter at the door of one of the restaurants and request though them. There is no line.

Thanks all for the tips. Haven’t cruised that much so don’t know anyone on board. I’ll deff make a b-line for a head waiter. Thanks for the explanation. Really wasn’t sure how that worked exactly. Good to know so I don’t waste time.

  6. Hi was wondering how? or where? do you get on line for the chef table going on the Golden next may in Alaska. Celebrating my Mom 70’s and would love to surprise her with that if I can. Also if anyone has any tips other then getting on early we will be on the land tour part first so kinda limited on when can get on the boat. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 😊

  7. I had been reading threads about this change in time last week when I checked mine was still saying 6pm. Someone on my roll call said they had just seen theirs had been switched. I went and checked mine sure enough said 5.... to early. Was able to push it back to 7:15pm. I get they are changing things but should at least give people a heads but about it. What about the people who aren’t on top of their bookings, or not on cruise critic ?

I believe that many hotels with room service tell guests to put the dishes outside the door when they are done eating. The vast majority of cruisers are not aware of the difference and will leave their used dishes in the hallway.

I’m sorry to say I’m guilty of doing the dishes in the hall a few years back on my last cruise. It never crossed my mind that it would be an issue. I’ll call down to room service from now on for sure. Have to say though I had a huge stack going in the room my cuz had been quarantine due to a cold I came back from a day out and couldn’t walk around the room. I was peeved at her over the mess.

  9. It looks very similar to the magic bands. I’m from Florida go to Disney a lot it really is an easy to use system. I would imagine would be good for cruises too cause the bands are water proof, stay on well, and easy to use. Disney has extra slides that denote if your a annual pass holder or vacation club member. Would think the cruise lines could do similar for loyalty levels.
