What a great thread, just read it all ... we booked this cruise for Feb. 6, 2011 ... have already paid for the airfare and booked our 1 day pre and 1 day post hotels (2 different ones) ... prob. not the best but it's on the beach and I only plan on sleeping / showering in it. Too much to see and do. Thanks for all the great pictures and advice.

This is one of the most funniest reviews I've read in a long time. Thanks!
-
Fantastic review, can't wait for more .... more ... really, tell your employer you need longer lunch hours because this is very important. :D
-
i'm gonna take one like this too!!! how funny!!!
I also took this one with my phone camera and sent it to all my co workers who were busy working .... hee hee hee :p
-
Then of course my VERY HAPPY VACATION FEET .... LOL
-
Cozumel ~ Loved the water splashing, loved the color of the water.

First cruise on March 2 and I had it twice and loved it; DH didn't like it said too rich ... okay, but I did ... LOL.
First one was perfect and second one was more cake than melted liquid in middle, but I loved it both ways.

Now that I have the address, I posted already on the East Coast Board.
STAY AWAY FROM the 50th Street area. Think rooms by the hour.
The Hampton Inn is just fine. Almost anything in the Airport - Westshore area is acceptable and most are good to very good.
Tampa-Days Inn Airport/Stadium
2522 N Dale Mabry
Is this one pretty decent????
-
Thanks, maybe I'll just book the Hampton Inn for both days instead. :)
-
We booked this for the day before our cruise:
Howard Johnson's
2520 N 50th St.
And the day we return:
Hampton Inn
3035 N Rocky Point Drive
If these aren't good can you please recommend one that is clean, not overly expensive ... has shuttle to the cruise ships ... and possible shuttle from airport as well?
Thank you

Bangers are English-style sausages, sometimes served with mashed potatoes ("bangers and mash").
They had them a couple of times on Coral Princess on our last cruise. They also had chorizo, regular link pork sausage and turkey link sausage.
Lox? Love it! I had some on Coral that was buttery-tender, Nova-style lox (as opposed to "belly lox", which is very much saltier).
I went to the dining room on our first day out to have the eggs benedict and experienced the same problem Carolyn mentioned: cold hollandaise. After that we went to the buffet. My favorite item there is pain au chocolat (croissant dough baked around chocolate). Mmmm! The bacon was particularly good this time out so I'm afraid I indulged in that quite a bit.
Thank you, I love sausages (except chorizo) and will definitely have to give these a try

What exactly are Banger sausages? I mean I know it's a sausage, but what kind of sausage?:)

This whole thread is terrific.
We have our first cruise booked and I have been wanting to go on one for years and just said to heck with it and booked it ...
Why after all these years? Because I work on an oncology floor and this year alone we've lost at least 10 patients (relatively young ones ... even a 31 yr old) to this disease and I decided that you never know ... when your time is up and by golly I was going ... and just booked it ... because as other posters have said ... the bills are always going to be there; there's always something that needs to be done and money to be spent; but memories are priceless and having special time with your loved ones is more important than anything else.
One of our patients was given 6 weeks and the docs told her to go do whatever she wanted to do ... well unfortunately this 31 yr old didn't make it another 2 days so she didn't get to do what she wanted ... so yes I agree, take that vacation ... because we all should "Live Like we were dying".

Could you possibly post the chi-chi recipe? Thanks.

I have been on Atkins since mid-2001, maintaining my weight loss since I made goal in late 2001, and have never felt better. :) As far as breakfast goes, the sky's the limit! Everything from low-carb pancakes, flax muffins, shakes, to even ribs or other leftovers from the evening before is doable.
As for cruises, there is no easier way to maintain or even lose weight. Even though I'm long at goal, invariably I return from a cruise a pound or two lighter just because it's so easy to eat well and get exactly what I want. Special requests of "no-this" and "extra-that" are truly a snap, and every cruiseline I have been on is ultra-accommodating whether you are doing the fine dining option, or are at the buffet.
I've got a cruise fast approaching next month, so I am so very excited! I love reading the posts here. Hope everyone is having a nice week. :)
Hi Sheila ... it's Connie from LowCarbFriends ....
I finally booked my first cruise, March of next year ... but I DID IT.
I switched to Kimmers because it's faster and less BS than the LCF boards ....
You look great and are still my biggest inspiration as well as Kimmer and Ixtapacheryl.
HUGS

Do you have information about the Kimkins Diet? I saw the website and they seem to lose so much so fast. One girl lost 31 lbs in 30 days -- but how?
It's basic and easy ... for Kimmers Experiment .... the FASTEST way it's
lean protein .... eat till satisfied your appetite will decrease
Eggs ... use as little fat as needed ....
That's it ...
For Kimmers ... it's adding a cup or 2 of salad greens and there you go.
I do Kimmers Experiment and it works fast, I've dropped 10 lbs in 3 days being DILIGENT on it. Do drink plenty of fluids.

I swear this plan is a miracle. You will just melt.
The first 3 days are rough, headache, etc., but then the weight MELTS. She charges a lifetime fee of something like 29.95 but SO WORTH IT, I would pay triple for it.
