  1. i fully respect those that like to dress up for the main dining room and they all do look fantastic. we do not like to dress up while on the cruise but would still like to enjoy a steak or lobster etc just as much as anyone else and i feel like that should not be an issue. we work as hard as anyone else and paid our cruise fare and paid for our way to the port and all other expenses just like everyone else..... not one person on those ships is better than anyone else. i can get a steak or lobster at a land based restaraunt without getting dressed up so why not on a ship? we like to dine on the lido deck as well and we do quite often but sometimes we would like something different without having to dress up.

  2. Serving lobster on the buffet seems problematic. Sure you can order multiple entrees in the MDR. But on the buffet, folks are going to be inclined to grab several.

Chocolate melting cake, we learned from Chef Panda during Chef's table, has to be served at exactly the right time after coming out of the oven. To have those on the buffet, they would need to be making them continuously and replacing the ones that had set too long.

Steak (and chocolate melting cake? not my thing) are available every night in the MDR. Not just elegant nights.

im not saying to have it at the buffet, i am merely saying that they should come up with a different venue ( along the lines of a red lobster or dennys ) that people can wear shorts and sneakers and a t shirt and get the exact same food choices as those who choose to dress up,

  3. i know the whole dress code in the MDR has been beaten to death so i wont go there. what should happen though in my opinion is that they should offer the EXACT same food elsewhere on the ship as they do in the MDR . lobster, steak and warm melting cake should NOT only be served to those that dress up.

  4. we are looking to cruise christmas week this year which would be a first for us as we normally go in feb to april. i realize that all cruises will be expensive this week but does anyone have any ideas on keeping it as inexpensive as possible as far as the actual cruise price itself goes ? we are looking at doing a 6 to 8 day cruise. thanks !

  5. Yes -- people do cruise with their children during school times.

Some get permission from the principal and some don't.

Only you can decide if you should take your child out of school.

yes, your decision. i have taken my kids out to cruise and there has never , ever been any problems with it.

  6. We just got back from the Spirit and did in fact get the premium Bon Voyage package as promised prior to the trip. It included a basket of fruit, a couple of large bottles of water and a bottle of wine. We also received a $15 photo coupon the first night at dinner.

The host on board the Spirit was awesome. She actually found us the first night in the casino by seeing our names on the slots while our cards were in the machines. Every day she came by to talk to us and was always very friendly.

Overall we had a great time in the casino. DW hit a couple of jackpots on video poker and DH was able to play craps throughout the week and not loose too much.

    water ? really ?

  7. hello everyone, i cant believe i just noticed this thread. i have extra triumph and inspiration pins. i looked on ebay and i saw where someone wrote that they only give pins to people with 10 + cruises hmmm i have sailed only 5 times on carnival and was getting past cruiser pins. but anyways i am divorced now since my last carnival cruise and i won custody of our cruise memorabilia lmao. so i do have extra pins as mentioned above.

  8. It was driving me nuts waiting til October to go on my cruise and an awesome deal dropped in my lap to go to Alaska last week!! So, I'm off to Alaska solo on the 13th. I am mostly packed (since the next couple weeks will be crazy) and ready to go :D

have an awesome time !!! i still need to wait till december .....:D

  9. wow, i just cannot wait till dec for my first solo. our roll call is absolutely beautifully. it seems like we have known each other for years. we are planning excursions and on board parties together. we even planned a pre cruise party at the hard rock miami the night before. a bunch of us are even staying in the same hotel. this is gonna rock !!!!

  10. obviously to go on a cruise with the intent of finding your new significant other is at least 90% UNlikely if not more. i am going on my cruise because i love it . my ex met someone on our last cruise and divorced me when we got back, and her relationship with him quickly fizzled ( rotflmfao ) . but like i said i looooooove cruising and will not stop.

I have found that the free on line dating sites have the same people as the paid sites..........I have found it is all about how you put yourself out there.....I date a lot and have fun.........but then I am not look for the perfect man to marry...........I am not just experiencing life and if the person comes along so be it.....;)

    i couldnt agree more !!!

  12. hi karen, my name is chris and i just recently booked my first solo for dec 2012 on the epic. i am 47 and recently divorced and this will be my 5th cruise and first alone. i always cruised with my wife ( now ex ) and the 2 kids. i really didnt think i would ever cruise again as our last cruise FEB 2011 is what caused our divorce but i figured why should it stop me. i just decided to switch cruise lines from carnival (4) to ncl and move on with my life. it will be a great way to meet new people and i am sooooo looking forward to it.
