  1. We leave Vancouver for 7 days to Whittier, then we have the Double Denali land tour. Noordam on June 23rd.
This is our first land portion and we have no idea on what to expect. I am a planner and it drives me crazy that I haven't a clue as to what to expect regarding the land portion.

When the ship docks in Whittier, will we need to have our luggage with us to the buses? or will they be forwarding to the Hotel in Denali? Do they tell you which bus to take? we are traveling with another couple and want to be sure that we know where to go?

What time does the buses depart from Whittier to Denali? (We scheduled a 900 pm ATV tour).

There is a Wilderness and Tundra tour on the full day were are there, is that varied over different times?

When do we depart Denali on the train? I want to try to plan our evening in Anchorage.

Do we even know which hotel yet?  (I keep seeing Westmark, which someone told me on another forum, but it appears to be shuttered up).

Last question, I promise. Do you know if there will be a service to forward our luggage the next morning to the airport? Will the hotel possibly store until we are ready to leave for the airport? (Our flights are at 9 and 11 pm. Thanks for all your patience!!

  2. I am currently researching cruises for next July for myself, husband and another couple.  One of the "wants to do" by the husband of the other couple is to actually go and stand on a glacier.  Not just look at it from a distance.

Does anyone know of any ShoreEx's that might do that and in what port?

I just got back on June 2. I had an inside so went outside to view the scenery. The weather that morning was chilly and windy but warmed up quite a bit as the sun came out. Didn't need a high deck - deck 8 forward - helipad opened for that day only and was the perfect place to be. Recommended by the Captain at a Latitudes meeting I went to and he was absolutely correct. Go early, pick a spot on the railing and stay there. Don't feel guilty (if you get up and going that early on vacation you deserve it). I did and lost my spot when I offered it to others just before a large calving of the glacier occurred - I missed it...this was my second Alaska cruise. If I do it again I'm staying planted. BTW, I bought the thermal spa - was by myself in an inside cabin - and this was the absolute best purchase I've ever made on board. Basically floor to ceiling windows on three sides of the room, tile heated loungers and you can watch the scenery go by in comfort without paying the exorbitant price for a balcony. And yes, the Captain does a 180 at the far end of the bay so whichever side you're on you see the Glaciers up close 😉

Question - what is the cost for the Thermal Spa?    We are looking at doing this cruise in September and it would be our very first NCL cruise.  Husband loves the Thermal Spas and I think that this might be something to compensate if we went with an Inside cabin and not a balcony.
