Robin my mother and I will be heading from Basel to Amsterdam departing May 9th on the Viking Tor. Also wondering about the weather and excursions. This will be our first river cruise.

Just got back from our trip. Had to buy a jacket. It was way colder than we expected! Hot in St. Thomas and St. Marteen, but cool most other days. Make sure you bring long pants to ice skate. You don't have to worry about shoes for rock climbing- they give you climbing shoes. For the first time in over 15 cruises I brought the same formal for both nights. I said the only people that will notice were my family and they don't care! It's amazing how much space you can save with one formal outfit instead of two! And believe it or not no one notices or if they do they don't care!
