  1. Hey all,

Will be in Bonaire in October on the Celebrity Summit, and the SO has picked this stop as the spot where we're snorkeling!

Does anyone have any suggestions on excursion providers and locations to snorkel? We're both very fit and would love as much time in the water as possible on great reefs! Additionally, I've always wanted to do snorkeling where you hold onto the pod engines if someone might have an additional suggestion for that.

On both my Summit sailings (most recently 11/2018) shorts were turned away from the MDR at dinner. On both Reflection and Equinox I saw people with shorts on at dinner in the MDR.

As for a jacket, even on evening chic, it's not really needed. There are plenty of people without them. A suit is definitely not needed. I wore a blazer this past cruise and ended up taking it off. As for jeans, so long as they're dark you would be fine.

RE: sweatpants at those hours, no big deal.

They were onboard my last cruise doing wiring installation for faster internet. While I didn't try it this past cruise, onboard Reflection and Equinox I did, and it was plenty fast. I was able to do wifi calling as well.

As for the drinks, for the most part they're made with house brands, so unless you specifically request top shelf, you should be fine on the limit. For wines in the MDR they're arranged into two categories (Classic and Premium) so you'll have no problem there, and prices are listed on all menus, so as long as you remember your limit, you're fine.

Thanks for all of that info, and specifically regarding the drinks, I wasn’t looking forward to ordering a “Long Island, and use the cheap stuff” all week. 😝😝

As far as Chic nights or specialty dining, don’t even bother bringing a jacket and tie then? Wasn’t going to bring cuffs or tails, but I usually throw on a jacket and tie for most elegant nights on previous cruises. Completely unnecessary for any venue onboard?

    Welcome to Celebrity!

    To answer your questions:

    1) What you are describing will be just fine to wear. Nice jeans and polo shirts on regular nights in the MDR, a suit (or jacket, or nice dress shirt) for chic nights.

Difference between classic and premium beverage package is mostly the level of alcohol you can get in your drinks. With the exception of the martinis at the martini bar, you will be able to get most anything, just with the appropriate spirits. (absolut vodka rather than Grey Goose for instance). You can still get specialty coffees and bottled water with classic package.

We stick to the MDR, so others can comment on specialty restaurants.

The internet is good, but VERY pricey. If you are doing a lot of ports, your will find free (or almost free) wifi at or near every port.

    Have a great cruise!

When ordering drinks with the Classic package, do I need to specify not to use top-shelf spirits?

And thanks for the advice on dress code, I love 7 straight days of gym clothes outside of dinner in my cruises, was worried I would stick out on Celebrity.

  4. Hey all!

After my recent post on here describing what my SO (25yo) and I (29yo) were looking for in a cruise, several people on this board recommended giving Celebrity a shot. So, October 26th 2019, we'll be on the Celebrity Summit out of San Juan for a Southern Carribean cruise!

We're already looking at each port to start coming up with excursion ideas, but I wanted to ask some ship specific questions on here since it will be our first time on a Celebrity cruise.

    1) Dress code most days outside of formal/chic? night. On Carnival, I can get away with gym clothes and casual wear, including sweatpants at night after the ship starts going to bed, on most days outside of dinner, where I'd wear nice jeans and a polo for normal evenings and a suit for formal night. Does that sound appropriate for a Celebrity ship, or will I get nasty looks walking around the decks at 2PM in gym clothes or in sweatpants on the top deck at 10PM?

    2) We are thinking about going with the Classic beverage package for the cruise. With the 9$/drink limit, will that cover most drinks on the ship and a couple of glasses of non-super fancy wine with dinner? Or will I be paying a differential on most mixed drinks? We aren't heavy drinkers, but like the drinks package since it stress-frees the invoice at the end of the cruise re: bar tabs.

    3) We are planning on doing dinner at Qsine at least once on the cruise. While we aren't huge Specialty Dining people (and from what I hear, the MDR food on Celebrity is very good), Qsine looks like a really unique experience. Are there any other restaurants on the Summit that are must-tries for non-serious foodies?

    4) The wifi. We usually unplug for the duration of the cruise minus some in-port wifi stops a couple of times during the week, but just in case either of our day-jobs ask us to stay in contact more frequently than that, is the internet on Celebrity decent? It's absolutely unusable on Carnival, does Celebrity do any better?

Thanks all, and looking forward to experiencing Celebrity in 2019! We might book another Celebrity cruise in late summer, but worst case, we'll be cruising for a week in 2019!
