We sailed Buenos Aries to San Antonio December 23 - Jan 6 and the seas were very calm. Seldom felt the "motion of the ocean". I brought every motion sickness pill, patch, ginger, sea bands etc etc and never used any of them. Not sure if this is the norm though.

Just off Eclipse. C2 cabin.
Quality of shampoo and conditioner wasn't great. I ended up buying some in the Spa. Very expensive. I would bring my own!

Sailed Dec 23-Jan 6. Received unlimited for 2 weeks as a perk. Although it was nice to have, I would have been annoyed if I had actually purchased it. Found it quite slow and often outgoing mail/pictures were not able to be sent.

We are on the Eclipse December 23 for 14 days. Seems there are no specialty dining packages on holiday sailings. Does anybody have any different information?

We will be at port of Ushuaia (on Celebrity cruise) on Jan 12, 2019. Our plan for that day is still uncertain as of now. We are still waiting for the Pira tour's decision if they will offer penguin tour for the cruise passenger on that day. I want to have some back up plan in case that one doesn't work out. I am considering just hire a taxi driver at the port to take us (6 of us) to the Tierra del Fuego National Park for the day (5-6 hours sightseeing and some easy hiking). I will really appreciate it if you can help for the following questions:
1. Is taxi/tour readily available at the port?
2. Do some of taxi drivers/tour guides speak English since we don't speak Spanish?
3. How much is average cost to hire a taxi driver/tour guide for 5-6 hour to the NP?
Thanks so much for the help!
We will be in Ushuaia December 31st. I also contacted Pira Tours back in September regarding their "penguin tour". Their initial response was quick to arrive and stated that they were working with the ship to see how many people were interested. At the end of September I received an e mail from them apologizing " but with the time constraints of the ship's time in port , they were unable to offer their tour that day".
I have since booked the Punta Tomba Penguin Rookery tour in Puerto Madryn through the ship.
The Pira Tours are highly recommended and may not be your outcome. I'm just happy I get to "see penguins"!

Looking forward to packing just a little less. I'll have quite enough needing to be prepared for two very different temperature zones - 28 celcuis in Buenos Airies and 8 in Ushuaia yesterday and all temps in between!

There don't seem to be many discounts on the holiday sailing next month. Perhaps once we are on board.

From what I understand 15.00

gratuities are already included. If you want something more expensive than your package allows, you pay the difference plus 18% tip.
Is the 18% on the entire amount or just the difference between what the package covers and the price of the beverage?
If the "Classic Package" covers up to 9.00. You purchase a 15 dollar glass of wine. You pay the difference of 6.00 but is the 18% on the the 6.00 difference or on the entire 15.00.
Thank you again for more clarification

I would suggest you consider a tour to the penguin rookery. This can't be done through the ship as there is only 1 organization that is allowed to take people to the rookery. You will actually be walking among the penguins after a zodiac ride from land.
The group that does these tours is Pira Tours. This is a seasonal offering so their offices are often closed from spring to fall - October I believe. They are limited to the number of people that they can take to the rookery, I think it is 20 at a time. It is a long 75-90 minute drive each way so in most cases only 1 or 2 groups from a ship can go.
It is among our most memorable tours/
We will be in Ushuaia December 31st. I had read great things about the Pira Tours trip to the rookery and contacted them back early September to inquire about reserving with them.
The first response thanked me for my interest and that they were trying to coordinate with the ship and would be generating a spread sheet based on passengers interested in this tour. Mid September I had an email informing me that due to time constraints, they were unable to put together a tour on December 31st.
I have since booked the Punta Tomba Penguin Rookery at Puerto Madryn through ship excursions.

Also received this offer to bid on upgrades. We sail out of Buenos Aries on December 23d. We upgraded to get a starboard cabin and do not want to risk losing this location - even for a larger cabin or a bigger balcony. So tempting as it is to "try", we decided against it.
S class cabins which is best for balcony cabins bed or lounge near window?

Just off the Eclipse. Our bed was next to the balcony. First cruise where we had this configuration and not sure I liked it.
There was only about 2 feet between the foot of the bed and the wall so it seemed a bit tight every time you wanted to go out on to the balcony. The rooms seemed a bit narrow so not sure what the reverse would have been like.
