I have a studio booked for the Epic transatlantic in April. Am going solo. I have a studio now for $2,800. I only took the wifi as I not do the fancy dining or the drinking. I can buy a sail away inside today for $1,900 (with travel insurance) - big savings.
Not sure about sail away - is that a bad to book as no control over the room you get?
If I take an inside room where I pick the room - is around $2,300 - still save $500. And I get bigger room. Don't think I care about the studio having their own lounge etc - bigger room must be better right?

Alaska in early Oct 2022 - 1/2 full - only 1,400 passengers.

My very first cruise EVER was on the Norwegian Jewel - 7 days - Vancouver to Alaska and Back - in October 2022. Ship was 1/2 full - 1,400 passengers someone said. The ship was amazing - mostly because the pools were empty (and they were heated to 86 degrees so they were warm) and no lines at all at Buffet. Easy to book specialty dining. Show up at theatre - always a seat. And best part was the Spinnaker Lounge - the views were so amazing - sat in there many hours and just watched the scenery - was like having my own balcony - was never busy.
I leave on November 8 on the Getaway - from what I read its a much bigger ship - has no lounge in the front for the views etc. I pick where I go by the itinerary not the ship so I know this will be different. I will like it of course?

CruisePlum is our friend
You had 9 that went down - did you contact NCL and get the lower prices or you have a PCC does it? And NCL honors CluisePlum - you say you saw it there and they say okay? I have many cruises booked with NCL but am just starting - only my second cruise next week - Did Alaska in early October on the Jewel.

The water taxis and a gondola was my highlight - and eating supper along the water! Place is amazing!

Cruising is all about FUN! 😎 (well, for most of us....)
For me it is - I paid - if my PCC gets me a better deal okay - otherwise - I was happy at the price when I booked it - I agreed to pay that amount 😃 I sail on the Getaway Nov 8 - I am sure many can buy right now at a lower price but I wanted to do the cruise and now I will.

Thank you! I love using Cruiseplum for price tracking and I saw that the price dropped by $100 this past Friday, so I'm hoping that trend continues
What are the rules with NCL - I have made final payment - I think its a 4 month window - once final payment is made I can't get the new good price right? So I need to track future cruises I book and if price goes down before final payment I contact them to get it? Do you sometimes even cancel before final payment - lose deposit - then rebook at lower price once its getting ready to embark?

I saw a number of reasonable prices for late season, last minute cruises for 2018 but you need to accept higher last minute airfare.
am lucky as family lives in Vancouver so I can couch surf and skytrain down to the cruise terminal and walk on and off as would book Vancouver round trip cruise. I live in the tropics November to July so just have aug to nov for cruising. Is lots though out of Vancouver that time of year so I should be able to keep busy. May also look at Orlando cruises as have Hilton there I can use as home base while cruise those months. Saw so many great last minute deals that is how I travel now - am not booking nothing in advance EVER again - 30 day window is my new life 😃

Yes, the Cunards are expensive and 'fancy'. I just got off the Queen Elizabeth, but I love 'fancy'. The only place a dress code matters is at dinner time. A dress code is required for all public spaces - but that may be a little lax for say the Lido buffet - or order in room service. I had to chuckle about the occasional man in a tuxedo with crocs or slip on deck shoes...clearly comfort over formal footwear. It just seemed that dress code mattered for what was seen above the tablecloth.
Atlantic crossings this time of year on QM2 are reasonable for fancy line - $900 pp for 7 nights NY to Southhampton sails Jan 3 but if was free I wouldn't go - don't have the wardrobe 😃

Instead of doing a repositioning, another option would be to do a roundtrip crossing on the QM2. Sometimes they do a European cruise between some crossings. Or...do a repo one way, and try to match it up with a return crossing on the QM2. Or vice versa. Still another, but rather expensive option, is to do HAL's annual "Voyage of the Vikings", round trip out of Boston to Europe in the summer.
I saw QM2 does a lot of back and forth to Southhampton - out of NY I think - will check now if its a fancy type line or not - sounds fancy 😃

Hi, you will need a flight home from Europe though. Unless you are planning to take a crossing back home too
they go in april and november do they or is there a way to get them b2b and get home?

Will you sail more on NCL or ? RCCL has the kids slides etc - how it their food - better? I sail solo so for price NCL has my business.

As well, go to NCL.com and click the "Advanced Search" button. Set your parameters of length and where you want to sail and "1 guest". Then all the applicable cruises will price for one guest only. You can then sort the results by price and all the dirt cheap fares will come to the top and all will be for one person.
Nice - will go look now BUT if going in Aug/Sep then I would look probably July for best rates? And for solo - NCL is pretty much the only one that offers good pricing on solos? I did google and HAL and RCCL are listed as having solo rooms and rates but when I go to their sites I don't see anyway to find those prices.

Am always looking to stretch my cruise dollars. Have booked a Mexico trip in September with HAL - wondering if there is a topic or board showing deals people found so I can get an idea of current prices.
-
Alaska is a short season but is cold early and late in the season so are there last minute deals a person can get when going solo? I had a cruise booked but was paying $2,600 for 7 days so I cancelled that - was just out of hand as I do not care what cabin I get etc.

You can sort by singles at NCL. Log on, top of page click "cruise deals" then scroll down "singles cruise deals" and click, when you arrive at that page click "view cruise deals" then at arriving next page you can filter even more.
oh thanks! Amazing! And I haven't cruised with them yet but some even have the past customer deal so a person would get that as well!
Should I cancel to get better rate?
