Sorry i got my answer on another thread. This is unfortunate as on royal caribbean i was able to book anytime.

I found on emerald princess i’m not able to book before final payment. It says you must be platinum to book early.

It looks like i can’t book dining early as i’m not platinum and am a first time cruiser. Is that the way it works? It says i can’t book dining until i make final payment.

Whoa its 750 cdn the night i’m going! Bring on the tips though i may find something!

Thanks. I found out from a trip advisor response that there are 3 conventions in town so cost is inflated. I’ll check it out though.

Thanks. Sounds like saguenay and quebec city are must sees! I may take the cruise a week later on oct 7 then the itinerary is the same but then portland is added. I am a bit concerned the fall foliage won’t be as good as last week of sept/first week of october but i guess its hard to predict.

Thanks. One is in the fall and starts in quebec city and ends in boston, has one port day in quebec city, then saguenay, sydney, st. Johns, charlotte town, halifax. Its sept 27 this year. The hostel rate (private room)of 400cdn in boston is a real sore point. 

The other is roundtrip new york.it goes to sydney, charlottetown, st. Johns, halifax, portland and boston. Its in june next year.

As you can imagine, i am struggling with which cruise to take. I’m wondering whether portland and boston are must haves. The fact that portland has good restaurants peaked my interest and i thought maybe there is a food tour. The other cruise goes to quebec city and the saguenay. I could choose to stay a night in boston but hotels are painfully expensive. So i guess its really about how portland is as a port and if its worth staying in a 400.00cdn hotel for boston.

I’m wondering what it means when you are waitlisted. Does that mean if someone drops the excursion you may get added or may they add another excursion. If its sold out may they add another one?

Thanks ill check out cunard. I’ve been waffling between island princess and emerald princess departing from quebec city and returning from boston. But round trip new york like on island is really more convenient. Good to see this thread still going!

I actually went ahead and booked a cruise end of september instead and best tours are sold out. And in one case the private operator is sold out too. I haven’t looked at others. I’m debating cancelling and booking 6 months ahead so i can get what i want. Its a bucket list cruise and i don’t want to miss out on things.

someone mentioned there are black flies in the maritimes in june. Is that correct? How bad is it?

Thanks everyone. The 11 day canada new england was what i was looking at so good to know many are sold out.

I believe this is new. For july 3 emerald princess canada new england cruise there is a low single supplement on ocean obstructed view. Note you have to search for interior and then you will see ocean obstructed which has a lower price then an interior cabin. Most face the lifeboats. I really wish princess would do something other than these last minute deals.

I'm looking at booking a cruise 40 days away but i'm concerned excursions will book up. Is it the case excursions often book up early?

Also does norwegian restrict solos by only allowing them to book certain insides? I find it peculiar the fall 24 sailings seem close to sold out. Also it appears you have to pay more if you are paying more for a specific category?

There are 2 rooms on deck 5 5727 (solo inside) and 5113. I am really concerned about being under the galley. I know someone on norwegian gem post said it wasn’t bad but on holland america it was horrible. I’m hoping one of these rooms is better than norwegian gem rooms. I’d really appreciate your help. I have trouble visualizing the 2 floors.

Princess doesn’t usually charge more for aft rooms. I assume they are charging more as an id category. The only thing i can think of is aft is preferable but not sure worth extra 122.00

The travel agent i’m booking with charges 122 for aft which is categorized id vs front which is ie. I don’t really see the difference in location. The front cabin is 8 from front and aft is 8 from the back. Its baja deck so shouldn’t be problems as cabins are above and below. I don’t understand why aft cabins are categorized better.

I’m wondering if anyone has sailed on a solo inside on norwegian gem. 2 rooms offered are 4545 which is by a mystery space and 4507 and 5107. If you’ve tried any let me know! Sparse pickings.
