Did this with my wife and granddaughters last year and it was an adventure to say the least.
Getting to the train station at Livorno was easy since the ship provide a shutlle for a cost.
Stopped at Pisa first(error should have gone to Florence first) and then went to Florence. Everything went great until we had to get back on the train to return, they delayed it for 30 mins. Finally got on the train, wrong track they changed the # of the track. We had to run to a another track and get on a packed train returning to Livorno standing all the way. As you can imagine at the station at Livorno there were over 100 people waiting for a taxi to take them back to the ship, total caos. We walked a little and got a taxi a little further up, with only 20 minutes to spare before the ship left. I would go to Florence first and coming back decide
if there is time for Pisa.

Word to the wise, if you are going to visit the vatican don't ever buy vatican tickets from anyone else other then the vatican website. I tried to buy tickets from the vatican site ahead of time so as to avoid the long lines, but was unable to do so because they will not sell them two months before the visit, so I decided that I would buy them on a site called Italy Travels. To my surprise, you guessed it I had to wait two months before my visit and they charged me 5 Euros per ticket as their comision, they also charged me 4 Euros per ticket that the vatican charges them. What they do is they purchase the tickets from the vatican site with your info and then send you the voucher which by the way is the same voucher the vatican issues. So I paid 84 euros for 4 tickets that I could have bought at the vatican site for 64 Euros.

Hi, You can do this very ease on your own. Take the train to bus stop at Taormina and the bus to the town. The trip takes about 45 mins.

Hi, Last time we were in Italy we went from Naples to Pompeii by train and then on to Sorrento. At Sorrento we had lunch, a little shopping and went back to Naples via the hydrofoil. We are planning to take our granddaughters on a cruise for their 16 birthdays in May 2016. and were wondering if this is still viable.

Hi, WE went to Naples and what we did was take the train from Naples to Sorrento that makes a stop at Pompeii scavi. Visited Pompeii and then got back on the train went to Sorrento for lunch, after which we took the hydrofoil back to Naples which is about a 25min ride, with enough time for a stroll through Naples.

I used a large rubber band around the money and credit cards and kept them in my front pocket. And I wore almost always jeans as they are tighter and harder to put your hand inside.

Also be on the lookout for people that want to sell you a time share for a great price. These come from the states in groups to take advantage of the tourists that visit us. The guy asking if you speak english,is a drug addict well known in the area. By the way there are many Costcos on the island, none in SJ. Closest one is in Carolina, about a 20 min. ride in car. You can many things in CVS in front of pier 1 carraizo99@yahoo.com

We just came back from a cruise on the Liberty and there is nothing to do at Messina. We went to the local bus and train terminal and rode a bus to Taormina about 1 1/2 hours. Seeing to countryside and the ride up to Taormina made the trip great. Interbus is the name of the bus company. Get to the terminal early so you can spend more time at Taormina. The bus will take up to the town, the train will not. Roundtrip cost us about 5.5 euros per person. If you decide you can take a bus down to the train station(same fare) and come back on the train. carraizo99@yahoo.com

I have waiting since March when we canceled our cruise in May and have not received my refund. Now they want to charge us 30% even when we canceled the trip in time. Totally dishonest company.
