  1. I'm in the same situation with a Nov 29 sailing. I looked up to see if I could downgrade rooms and that was a joke. The pricing for cheapest rooms for that sailing at this point costs more than what I'm currently booked for balcony rooms. I guess they realized people were downgrading rooms to avoid having to pay a lot on their final balance and jacked the room rates up.

I'm not interested in lifting to a cruise next year and I'm not interested in holding any more FCC than I already have. I just want my money back. I think my only option now is to pay the final balance and request and wait for the refund.

Still hoping someone recently on Harmony could give some feedback on WJ dinners since we're embarking Sunday.  I know this past week there was a Mexican night with a chocolate buffet as well.  Is there a theme every night (there was for us on Radiance in Alaska last Summer)?  I've read about cook to order stir fry and crepes.  Are there different cook-to-order options each night?

Yes, there were different options each night, it was pretty great! I think the stir fry/asian was there every night, but I could be wrong. They had the crepe station one or two nights, and it was delicious! I had never had a crepe before, and I got it with chocolate, caramel, and oreo pieces!!! Another night they were making some Indian dishes fresh, they made me some naan on request which went great with the butter chicken and rice. My advice, don't stop just at the front part of WJ, they make stuff fresh alllll the way back at the station deepest into windjammer. One night they were making fresh hot donuts, and in the mornings there were always hot waffles back there.

For all asking if we reported the waiters in MDR, we mentioned it to one of the waiters we saw in Windjammer, Clifroy. He had been working in Coastal Kitchen our first day on board and recognized us. He took all the notes down and told us it would be better and to try again the next night. We tried it one more night, which was the 3rd attempt, and it wasn't any better so that was it for us. But while we were in Windjammer several nights for dinner we got a visit from the Windjammer head waiter, the MDR head waiter, and they were all very apologetic, and asked if we wanted anything. Clifroy even offered to have food sent down from Coastal Kitchen, or book us into the Solarium Bistro. We didn't we didn't want to make a big fuss since we were having such a great time in Windjammer, but they did try. A couple of our rooms got sent chocolate covered strawberries from the head waiter, and another room got sent a bottle of wine.

  3. We were on the ship with you! We hated have to get off yesterday and go back home. :-( It was a wonderful week. Our only issue was with service in the main dining room, at the 5 pm seating. The waiter was awful, constantly making negative comments on what and how much we ordered, or how we ordered it, a couple of times they made passive aggressive comments about my attire (long shorts and a nice top), many requests for drink refills that never came, and cold food was served to us. It was a shocking change from our experience on other cruises. After 3 nights we ended up going to Windjammer the rest of the nights and had a wonderful time in there. Service and food was fantastic with WJ. Possibly the MDR servers were just overworked and had too many tables.

  4. Yep, you can do it online with the birth certificate. You choose what documentation you'll be using, and then enter the info from your birth certificate and government issued photo ID. You don't have to do the photo to complete online check in. They'll do the photo at the check in desk, and review your documents to verify they are correct and valid. Have fun!

Do you realize that the use of those walkie talkies may be illegal on other countries?

Many countries restrict the use of any communication radios.  And just before that frequency band is free for you to use in the US, it may require a license in another country, or interfere with local military or police radio bands.

OP asked for ways to communicate on board...per RCI, walkie talkies are acceptable, no warning not to use them in their cruise ports. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/walkie-talkie-onboard-policy

We had no issues with using them for the 5 minutes that I was on the boat and they were right in the secured port area to coordinate a meetup, nor would I think the countries would do anything about it  since they must have that going on all day. Obviously if I was notified that I was on an emergency channel I would change it. No need to be an alarmist.

  6. We were hooked after our first suite experience last year as well. We'll be on Harmony in an OS in two weeks...looking forward to it.

I've never noticed the pinnacles clustering, but I do remember striking up conversations with several of them. It was interesting to hear their stories and how they got to pinnacle status.

  7. Last year on Oasis, I was in one of the owners suites that had a connection with the room next door. If I had been in a regular room and not able to get away from that door, it would have been a very poor time for my daughter and I. It was a couple that had relationship problems and they screamed at each other the whole week. It was like I was in the room with them. 😕 Lots of cursing, storming out and letting the door slam, loud discussions about their intimacy issues...in extreme detail. I had second hand embarrassment since I assume they probably didn't realize how clearly I could hear them. With that suite the bed is on the other side of the room and I took a noise machine so it didn't affect us too much. I remember they had a company magnet on their door as well, I believe they were the owners.

  8. I'm on June 2nd sailing and they've gotten more expensive. I bought our tickets a couple of weeks ago and they were $64.99. Now they are $70.99. I don't think it's from delays. I'm wondering if a lot of Oasis cancellation travelers rebooked to those sailings and they're trying to recoup some costs. That's why were are booked on that one, we got cancelled on Oasis. It could also just be a case of supply and demand. Maybe there aren't many tickets for the water park booked on the sailings where it's cheaper so they're trying to drum up some reservations, and the couple of June ones are more expensive have a lot of tickets already sold.

I feel ripped off based on these responses; can't even book a half day and the full day is $71/pp and pretty much has been at that price for months.

Screw it, I will just enjoy the free huge pool and beaches. I might have jumped with some of the prices I am seeing on this thread, but they can stuff-it @ $71 a person; thats near double what an actual water park (with way more attractions and slides) charges

Same feeling here, it's really irritating. Are you on the June 2 sailing? I don't understand why that one is so much more than others.

  10. This is my first post after lurking for a bit, but I actually have experience in this arena so I thought I'd jump in. And what interesting replies I've read on this thread!

At the end of the day, you really have to decide what kind of vacation are you going on, is it a family vacation, or is it a couples vacation. If it's a couple's thing, then you know what to do. If it's a family vacation, then you really have to think about your child and what they can and can't handle. Ignore the people saying you shouldn't take your child or a stroller. It's a family cruise line, period. I'm not saying to be disrespectful and ignore your child if they're screaming in MDR, but if someone wants to ensure they don't have children around, there are vacation tours that cater to that group of people.

My daughter is 2.5 now and we've taken her on my trips since she was very young. I wanted her to learn how to travel and behave in public. I just dragged her all over London last week and she was fine. At the same time though, she's 2, and as some might believe, they are not little adults. You have to know when to hold em and when to fold em. If she gets tired, hungry, has a meltdown, we act accordingly, we don't try to force her into adult schedules or situations. That's what you have to keep in mind when going on a family vacation.

We went on 2 cruises last year, Oasis and Enchantment. She would have been 20 months, and 2 yrs old for each of those. I was with her by myself for the 7 day Oasis, and her dad was with us on the 3 day Enchantment. Oasis was an Owners Suite, and Enchantment, Jr Suite. Did not use any child care on either of them. I packed little toys, coloring books, the tablet with pre-downloaded movies, and took lots of snacks that she likes. We went to MDR each evening and she glazed over as soon as we turned on Boss Baby, no sound necessary for her. It went smoothly, no tears. We scheduled early shows, and if she got antsy during, I would leave. I took a stroller, a smaller one, and I'm proud to say I didn't run anyone over. :-) For my trip last week out of the country I got a Pockit stroller which folds up super tiny, and I'm taking that on my next cruise for the instances where the elevators are too busy, we can just fold it and walk the stairs.

It's important to note that if a child is in diapers there's a ridiculously tiny area in which they can go in at the pool area. They cannot have access to the whole kids area or the main pool, and they're super strict about it. It was such a bummer that we only went once on each cruise because my daughter got upset that she couldn't do it all. The Oasis was great for her because there's a lot to do, the carousel, play areas, places to run around. Enchantment was kind of boring for all of us. Definitely more of a weekend party cruise, or couples cruise.

There are some downsides, like missing the evening entertainment, or the port shopping sessions during her nap time each day, but I still had a blast. It's more fun for me to have her and tone down my vacation than to not have her with me and worry about her the whole time, or miss her badly. We were about to head out on Oasis this Sunday, but that's now rescheduled to Harmony in June, which we're really excited about. This year we're definitely going to check out the child care for a few hours here and there to do a few adult things, so it's nice to have the option.
