  1. I had a friend ask a question that I can't answer...

They are ending their cruise in San Juan and plan to stay a few days before flying back home. The ship docks at 7AM but they can't check into their condo until 4PM. She has already asked if they will store luggage and they won't because of the liability. Any suggestions as to what to do with 4 suitcases? I thought I remembered someone saying there was a place that would hold luggage for a fee but not sure that's correct.

  2. We'll have 5 kids in our group ages 3,6,7,8 and 12 and we are thinking of doing Paradise Beach. Does anyone know if they have life jackets for the kids? Also do we need water shoes? I read that it was a little rocky in some spots.

  3. When I emailed my PVP to make sure the bookings were linked he called back and offered to just book the excursions for me. He said they were already linked so I'm not sure why I didn't get the option to add the others but it's all worked out.

I may take some advice and add the booking # for our son so I can do his online check-in since it's his first cruise. It will be the 3rd for our daughter so she can take care of her own. :p

    Thanks for all the advice!

  4. Our Spring Break isn't until the end of the month but we will be on Elation then. We are taking our daughter and her family and son and his family. This will be our daughter's 3rd cruise and son's first. Grandkids ages are 3, 6, 8 and 12 and they are all sooo excited!!! We have been on Elation several times and I think you made a great choice! Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!

  5. Are your reservations linked ? When I booked ours yesterday, everyone we're linked to popped up. I just clicked on the 4 I wanted to pay for. Also on my profile my kids are listed as traveling companions, along with their VIFP #'s. I didn't put them on there, I guess Carnival did.

When I put 4 people in the order form is when other names popped up. When I put 2 it only showed the 2 names booked in my cabin.

They should be linked but since we're Your Time Dining they may not be. I will email my PVP and make sure. Thanks!

  6. Can anyone tell me how to go about booking excursions for someone on a different booking # than mine? We are traveling with our son and his family and daughter and her family. The cruise was their Christmas present so we paid for that and now we want to pay for a couple of excursions. I emailed my PVP and he said to just log in and book the excursion and it would give me the option to add other people. That wasn't correct or at least I don't see that option; I can only add the two of us who are booked in our cabin. I called the 800# and they told me the same thing. The lady stayed on the phone with me while I tried it and she was surprised that the option wasn't there also. Any suggestions?

And yes, I know I could log in under their account (or get them to) but I don't want my debit card associated with their booking in case they run up a bill onboard. I don't want that to sound bad and I don't think they would deliberately charge to my card but things happen.

  7. Maybe that's why one accosted me as I was getting off the ship on the gangway while in port. He physically touched me...grabbed my arm and told me that I HAD to take a picture, then after several NO's, he called me an ass. I made a complaint, hopefully it doesn't happen again. I truly can't stand the photographers. They are just too pushy and totally annoying. This is where all cruise lines need to take a step back.

I don't know if Carnival has asked them to back off or it was just this particular cruise but the photographers on Valor last week were far from pushy. Once we said "no" they didn't even ask a second time.

  8. They do get a commission on the photos that are sold. .not on how many photos they take.

It is not a photographers fault they hold up a line. They go where the cruiselines want them

Thank you for a polite answer! Commission is what I have read in articles but contrary to what has been said here, the comedian was not telling a joke so I wondered if Carnival paid differently than some of the other cruise lines.

  9. We just got back off Valor last Sunday. While watching one of the comedians he stopped his act, got serious for a moment and made the statement that the photographers get paid based on how many photographs they take. He urged everyone to take time to have their photos taken even if you don't plan to purchase them. We haven't purchased any pictures since our first few cruises and don't even bother to have them made anymore. I don't like being wasteful and hate seeing photos printed that I know will be thrown away. If I knew if this was true I might reconsider. Does anyone know the answer?

  10. You have to use common sense where ever you are. Any ship, not just Carnival, is the same. I leave my expensive jewelry at home, just as I do when I vacation on land. On land I keep a close watch on my cash and credit cards, on the ship I don't have to worry about those things because they stay locked in my safe. Overall, I definitely feel safer on the ship. Don't let some bad publicity stop you from enjoying a wonderful vacation!

  11. We just got back last night from Alaska on Miracle. We were in 5120 and our friends in 5118. I had read here that if we wanted the divider opened that we should ask immediately because they only open a certain number. You also have to have someone from both cabins sign saying it's ok. As soon as we got on board we went straight to customer service and signed up. They told us it would be the next day before it would be opened and then only if the winds were not too strong.

Honestly...we wished we hadn't opened it. I didn't realize it would open toward the railing and I felt like it took away part of the view for our friends. It also came unlatched in the middle of the night and kept banging. I also felt like we lost a lot of privacy. I'm just not used to having to make sure the curtain is closed before I change clothes!

  12. We stayed at the Moore Hotel (two blocks from the market) and they recommended a car service. It was $28 for 4 people and it ended up being cheaper than a taxi for us. The hotel staff set it up and made all the arrangements. It was very convenient. Our only problem was that we set it up ourselves for the driver to pick us up after the cruise to take us straight to the airport for an early flight. When they showed up it was a different driver and he brought a car and not a van and it wasn't large enough. We honestly didn't need to schedule one anyway because there were taxis and vans everywhere! We paid $65 for the 4 of us to get from Pier 91 to the airport.

  13. Have lunch at the Space Needle - $25 min. per person but it includes the elevator ($22 standalone) so excellent value.

Before you go you should check out the menu online. We wanted to eat there but even a burger is $27! It may still be worth it if you consider the price of the admission to the observation deck. We also had one member of our party who was afraid of heights so we decided to eat somewhere else.

  14. We just returned last night from Alaska and spent 3 nights before the cruise at the Moore Hotel. It was extremely reasonable!!! Less than $400 for 3 nights and that's very low for Seattle! It was built in 1907 and had sooo much character!!!! We even had a claw foot tub! It was an easy two block walk to the market and we couldn't have asked for a better location! It's well worth checking out!!!
