  1. After endless research, we chose the Coral for our cruise to Alaska.  We are very glad we did because she is a lovely, classy little ship with more public space than most ships.  We booked Baja 310 (port side for southbound Voyage of the Glaciers in May). Our balcony was the last cabin on the first bump out so it has a panoramic view. Yes,  people can see you, but they were respectful and you're in Alaska so it’s not like you’re lounging on your balcony in a bikini anyway. Take a look at exterior images because upper balconies look over lower ones and they aren’t all covered. Baja is a sandwich deck and is very quiet. We were near the elevator and never heard any additional noise.

  2. I recently read The Sanctuary on the Island Princess has been reduced to only one level since their most recent dry dock remodel. You’ll want to confirm this. Rooms were added displacing some public spaces on the ship. I recommend checking It out as soon as you step on board and see if it appeals to you. It’s my understanding that you can only sign up at The Sanctuary (not prior to your cruise.). If you book early,  you’ll have your choice of chaise lounges. You should be able to find photos online.

  3. Our experience on the Coral with Medallion Net was poor (even though the system was completely upgraded recently).  As mentioned above, they offered 50% off the day you board so it was $10 daily for a single device. Coverage was spotty at best. When we inquired at the passenger services’ desk, the clerk said,  “everyone is having problems.” She then directed us to the manager of the Internet Cafe who refunded our entire plan. He did say iPhones were having more problems than  Samsungs.

  4. Glacier Bay day in The Sanctuary on the Coral Princess in May of 2019...Best. Day. Ever.  And the weather was gorgeous.  My husband and I had such a relaxing, fun and memorable day. We didn’t originally book The Sanctuary because we had a great balcony, but returned later and were very glad we did. The staff was excellent and friendly. The cost is $60 each for Glacier Bay all day.  It was worth every penny and I’m a penny pincher. The view was spectacular from this quiet and peaceful 2 level aft vantage point. The other passengers (only a few) were fun and equally enthusiastic.  It was advantageous to be able to move so quickly from port to starboard side for wildlife and marine mammal viewings. Yes, we were greeted with mimosas and had lunch and other lovely extras throughout the day, including designated lounge chairs, but the wide open vista was truly magnificent and the best part of the experience. (We almost kept this secret hideaway to ourselves and were reluctant to post, but finally decided to share as we want others to have this amazing opportunity.)  Safe and happy travels to all of you.
