Just agreeing with the others — not another dollar to that butler, and spread the wealth elsewhere.  What you gave already is way too much for the service it sounds like you’re receiving.

Personally your experience is another reason why I (very respectfully) disagree with Gary on the idea of tipping up front. Tipping up front in no way guarantees good service. Personally I prefer waiting until the end of the trip to decide how much to tip.  Similarly, for the butler to keep track of your letter for two weeks might make their job harder as opposed to just communicating day by day what you need from them.  But of course many people have had great results from the letter and upfront tip!

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

We have found that if you send your letter, preferences and plans to NorwegianConciergedesk@ncl.com email address prior to your cruise, your changes are better that they will be honored. FYI

  2. FlyerTalker. I was referring to the reduced airfare program offered by NCL and others, whereas the customer pays a small portion of the cost or fixed amount as part of the "deal" offered, and the cruise line books the travel. (ie,. group rate) The cruiser is not aware of the itinerary or carrier until x-days out from cruise. That's what I meant by supplemental.

I’ve stayed in the Haven Courtyard Penthouse on the Escape which allowed easy access to the Haven restaurant &  Courtyard Lounge...loved being in Haven complex but the suite was smaller than expected.  I shy away from Haven Spa Suites because I feel the whirlpool tub in the suite is a eyesore...don’t want to walk into a room & see a tub unless it’s a bathroom!!! lol

The NCL Bliss appears to have a larger Haven Spa Suite & Balcony plus is less costly but I would still choose the Courtyard Penthouse if I had to choose between the two.

My next cruise will be on the Bliss & I reserved a Haven Forward Facing Suite...it’s not in the Haven complex but would like to try out a larger suite with separate bedroom/livingroom space even though I will have to settle for a very small balcony.

Thank you for the response! You've helped with our decision. Have fun on the Bliss!

The hydrotherapy pool in the Thermal Suite is chlorinated like a pool.

Having a large Jacuzzi tub in the room is really nice.

At the end of the day, it is really up to you. The spa suite is cheaper and comes with spa access. The H5 is more  expensive, smaller, but it is in the Haven complex.

BTW, the Epic has the best Thermal Suite in the fleet and has never been matched by the newer ships. You will really enjoy it!

Thank you so much for the response and for confirming that the thermal waters are chlorinated. I'm glad to find out now 🙂 CHeers!

  5. Hello Cruisers. This is my first time posting on CC as I am a new member. My husband and I are currently booked on the NCL Epic re-positioning (16) day cruise from Barcelona to San Juan, November 2019. This will be our 3rd cruise with NCL and this time we've opted to upgrade to either a Haven Spa Suite (Located outside the Haven area but with Haven amenities and Thermal spa access), or a Penthouse Courtyard suite, (located in the Haven Area without the spa access).  I wanted to ask for advice (although subjective) on which others preferred and would recommend based on experience.

I have heard that the whirlpool tub in the Spa Suite rooms are sort of a waist of space and not practical since you have such ample access to spa amenities.

PS. Does anyone know if there are chemicals in the thermal spa waters? I have allergies to certain ones and just wondered if it was mineral water or other.

    Thank you so much!
