  1. Hi!

We are traveling on the Carnival Glory, leaving March 3rd. Are there any other lesbians with kids going on this cruise? I would really love to meet other couples to hang out with :) Neither of us are drinkers and I know the Carnival line is supposedly the "Party Boat" cruise ship line....so I'm kind of worried about that...

By now you're probably already back and I don't need to tell you this, but most of those "party boat" comments you hear are from people who have never actually been on a Carnival cruise. I've been on 5 so far, and I've always seen a good mix of people--even on a 4-day cruise during spring break. :)

  2. Thanks Lis! I really want to do the formal thing, and she doesnt do girly so she's nervous about wearing a more masculine suit. I dont really think people would be rude to us, she just gets embarassed really easy and I would hate to put her in that position. However, we're not letting any of this ruin or rule our vacation.

I'm really late in replying to this, but I hope you're still out there!

Don't avoid the main dining room, and don't skip formal night. My partner is butch, and we were concerned about that on our first cruise, too. There is no way she was putting on a dress (she'd look like she was in drag!), so for the first time we found a not-too-girly dressy pantsuit. She still felt like she was in drag, though. Since then, we quit worrying about it. Now she usually wears either a suit and tie or shirt and tie without the jacket.

Here are some links to pictures of us on a couple of formal nights:

I hope that helps set your mind at ease.

  3. You know what I saw for the first time on the Victory? A bing cherry soup or bisque. It was great. For those of you who have never had it, there was a chocolate melting cake that even my son and his friend wanted. Has anyone had that?

I haven't seen the bing cherry soup, but I hope I do on my next one! I'd love to try it. The fruit soups are always some of my favorites.

I *love* the chocolate melting cake, too. Had it twice on the last cruise and look forward to having it again on the next one.

Last year on the Liberty, they had a lavender souffle one night. Has anyone else ever had that or even seen it on the menu? It was divine!

  4. Here are some pictures from our visit to Playa Uvas last week:

The day we were there, there were 7 ships in port! You'd never have guessed it at Playa Uvas, though. I love that they limit the number of people, because we were never crowded at all.

All the lovely things I would say about this place have already been said, so I'll just say this: If you're on the fence about whether or not to go there, get off that fence now! Just go! :D You won't regret it, I promise. And get a massage from Luz. I'm still kicking myself for not doing it, but I'll get one next time for sure.

  5. Can anyone suggest any particular sights to see or things to do while in Cozumel? Neither one of us has been and are anxious to hear what you think...

Oh, one of my favorite ports! There is quite a bit to do in Cozumel, so it really depends on what sort of things you like and how much money you want to spend. I definitely recommend snorkeling there. The first time we went, we went out on a boat for $25 per person for about 3 hours. The second time, we went to Chankanaab park and spent most of the day there snorkeling right off the beach. I think that's the best way to do it, and that's what we've done ever since. I can't remember what it costs to get in, but I think it's about $8/person, and if you need it, you can rent snorkeling gear there very cheaply. The park also has a botanical garden and swimming area. I love it there!

    Hope that helps!

  6. Back to the Olivia issue. I think that one would have to decide whether she is willing to spend a bit more $$ on the cruise.

I wish it was a "bit" more! :p My partner and I love to cruise, but I don't know if we'll ever be able to afford to go on Olivia. Well, we could, but we'd have to go on one cruise every 3 or 4 years, when we'd prefer to go on one every year. Maybe one day, though....

Anyway, it was about 16 degrees here today, and I'm ready for some sun and warmth. Needless to say, we are counting the days till our next cruise! In the past, we've always cruised with friends and/or family, and this will be our first time ever cruising with just the two of us, so it'll be different. I know we'll have a blast, though! If anyone here will be cruising with us, let me know.
