  1. Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I found our cabin, 9292, on the S-Class sticky. Don't know why I didn't think of looking there first but it is good to know how the system works.

It will be interesting having the bed near the balcony for the first time. I would imagine the cabin looks more spacious when you enter.

Many thanks again for the prompt replies.

  2. Hi,

Can someone kindly tell me if there is some format as to where the bed is positioned? Either near the bathroom or by the balcony?

I feel I read somewhere that is was odd/even cabin numbers. We have been on Solstice three times and always had the bathroom end but would really like to know for future bookings if there is a way of knowing this for certain.

We have a A1 Balcony on the hump for our upcoming cruise.

    Cheers and thanks.

  3. Hi Dominic,

Thanks for your review. Hubby and I will be sailing on the Solstice Perth to Sydney via NZ on the 5th March.

I was disappointed that you found the service in the MDR to be so unfriendly. The crew sounds as though they were unhappy with things.

What a shame you missed the Sounds. We have sailed through them twice in different but great weather.

We came to Celebrity after about 150 days on smaller, luxury liners. Not the way to go generally but I must say we have always enjoyed our cruises on the Solstice. I suppose we have just ignored the sales pitch but I understand how you felt.

We have purchased a 4 specialty dining package and hope we don't have your problems booking a table. We never have had before and have usually managed to get some extra nights on special offers. We love Muranos.

Did they offer any specials for the speciality restaurants while you were on board? What about the first night? This used to be heavily reduced.

Thanks again for the review and I will look forward to hearing anything else you may like to add.

    Cheers.

  4. We have done the Pacific crossing from Australia to LA or San Fran via Hawaii and French Polynesia and the reverse four times and had amazing weather each time.

Various dates between late November and March. Weather was beautifully warm and the seas calm all the way.

Don't know if we were just lucky but we would do this crossing again in a flash as we love sea days.

Three cruises were on Regent and one on Crystal but can't afford them anymore and we are thinking of a Celebrity Sydney to Hawaii for our next crossing. Have sailed on the Solstice three times and enjoyed it.

You will love French Polynesia and Moorea especially , even more so than Bora Bora.

Oh, I just re read your post and noted you were asking about April or October. I can't comment from personal experience about those months but as Den the previous poster said "go for it!".

    Cheers.

  5. We are another couple doing the March 5, Perth to Sydney via NZ.

We booked while we were on the Solstice this March 1st to 13th around the islands.

The weather on that cruise was amazing, hardly a white cap to be seen and yet earlier and since the weather has been wild in Northern Australia.

Tee Rick, the weather in the southern part of Australia should be lovely. I personally think March is the best time to visit Melbourne.

Like an earlier poster we also did the Northern Australia and NZ cruise and crossing the Tasman was just so calm. One can just be lucky,:) in fact this will be our fourth similar itinerary and we have been fortunate with the weather on all.

I wouldn't worry about rough seas, just be prepared with ginger tablets and look forward to a great cruise.

    Cheers.
