  1. Cruising this summer on the Celebrity Edge and see that there is a $5 shuttle between our scheduled AJ Dock berth and downtown Juneau.  Can anyone help with these questions?

1). Location(s) in downtown Juneau where the shuttle drops off/picks up passengers?

2). How easy is it to use service? (frequency of service? length of lines? seating?)

3). How easy is it to get to the Alaska State Museum from the shuttle's downtown drop off/pick up point? (distance? hills?)

My elderly traveling companions want to independently visit the Alaska State Museum when our ship is in port. They can easily walk a few blocks but long distances and inclines are challenging. Also, they would need to be on a shuttle where they can be seated rather than expected to stand. Most likely, one person would bring along a walker.

  2. I chill easily. On the Beyond, I wore a wrap or light sweater or jacket in the Theatre each evening and froze anyway - the place was kept super-cold. Dinner afterwards in a MDR. Big improvement in comfort after leaving the Theatre but would take awhile to warm up after the big chill. Sometimes I eventually took off the extra layer and sometime just left it on - was fine either way. During the day, felt comfortable wearing short sleeves and capris in the ship's public venues. If I had worn skimpier attire, might have found some areas a tad chilly (but not anywhere as cold as the Theatre).

  3. Recently cruised on the Beyond, with 3 people sharing a "double sofa bed" cabin configuration. Double sofa bed means:

    - Sofa has a trundle bed configuration (one bed slides out from under the sofa)

    - A mattress can be put on top of the sofa seating area for a 2nd bed

During our cruise, we never used the trundle bed. I slept on the mattress placed over the sofa seating area. The mattress was kept in place throughout the cruise, even during daytime.

    - The mattress-on-top-of-seating-area was comfortable enough for me. Some people are very fussy about mattresses and may not have the same opinion.

    - This bed was more narrow than a twin bed. I am on the smaller side. A larger person may have an issue with the narrowness of the bed.

    - Because the sofa seatbacks were removed to accommodate the mattress, and the sofa height was increased because of the mattress thickness, the sofa was not particularly comfortable to sit on as sofa seating.

  4. No official onship library. Recently cruised on the Beyond and noticed a shelf with books that seemed to serve as an unofficial book exchange. It was located in Eden, on the upper balcony level, on the "interior" side of the balcony level (not the balcony area by the aft windows). Somewhere between 1-2 dozen books. Would be a good idea to bring your own reading material.

  5. Recently cruised on the Beyond. MDR reservations are possible but limited once on ship. Our group attended the 7 PM show and ate in a MDR about 8.30 PM afterwards each night. It was easy to walk into any MDR and get a table. Dining late, we never felt like we were being rushed out of our table. We were typically finished in time to catch a 10 PM performance at one of the entertainment venues on ship.

We rotated between all four MDRs during our cruise. All had menu items that were "hits" as well as a few "misses". Can't say that one was better or worse than the others. Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We were ultra pleased with the service in all four MDRs.

We used our Classic Beverage Package at the Cafe al Bacio on Deck 4 and the one in the Oceanview cafe (Deck 14). No extra charge for beverages priced at $10 or less. Espresso drinks (sans alcohol) were priced within this limit.

Main Theater show times were 7 PM and 9 PM. Several other venues within the ship had performances at varying times.

  6. What have women REALLY been wearing for "Evening Chic" nights on Celebrity cruises in 2019 & 2020? Need to pack light for my late spring 2020 Mediterranean cruise because of travel days before/after the cruise and do not have room for dresses/heels/other dressy clothes that will not get a lot of use.

Trying to figure out if there are workable solutions for blending in or if I will just have to skip "Evening Chic" nights.

Have already read Celebrity's description of "evening chic", so no need to post that information. I'm most interested in how women have REALLY dressed recently on "Evening Chic" nights. Thanks!
