  1. I quite often travel with an international adapter. It looks like the picture- I like the brand but it's not an endorsement as loads of companies make these. The adapter gives us extra capacity since ships usually have both type B (US) and type C (European) outlets- but only use this if you have electronics with the transformer embedded to make them automatically dual voltage (phones, laptops, etc do). An added benefit is if you're flying to and from the port- some older planes only have standard outlets instead of USB, a lot of times the US outlet is worn so the plug is too loose, but the European part is just fine.

  2. I can't think of a cruise line I can't adapt myself to enjoy because at heart, I'm a transportation geek. I entertain myself on less programmed cruises and people watch as well as run around to different activities on the more active ones.
Personally, I adore MSC. But it can remind you in weird places that it's a European line. My favorite instance, we were wandering Divina on a sea day afternoon and saw the theater was open, so we popped in to check out what was going on. It was literally opera- La Traviata. We sat there for a bit to admire the costumes, and the performance was decent, but it was definitely not something we expected to find.

I’m new to MSC and this will be my first visit to their private island.  While I love the sea, I cannot be out in the sun and heat for very long at a time because of medication I take.  I’ve read that it is a gorgeous island but the vegetation is young and not many areas of shade.  I was thinking not to get off the ship here for that reason.  Is this island a must-see and I’ll regret not going?

Don't worry about being out too long- the Cay isn't huge and you can come and go from the ship as you like. So if you get off the ship and decide you've had enough sun, just get back on board until sunset. It's a really cute little island. I'd only be worried if you were doing some excursion that might keep you out in the sun.
