  1. Thanks, I'll check out my roll call thread! I just joined cruise critic today & already can't believe I haven't done this for previous cruises.

We ship Dec 15th on Adventure of the seas. I know that not all ships are compatible with the app, but I checked and ours is.

We sailed Jan 2019 on Allure and I can't quite remember how long before we departed we were able to book showtimes...

My brother & SIL sailed on Oasis in 2018, did not book any showtimes before they left and they couldn't get into many of the shows as they were full (the weather was bad, so more people than normal were staying inside for shows, and the outdoor shows were cancelled)

  2. I know that RC now has the option for cruisers to "book" their shows, activities, and such on board from your app or cruise planner (and btw, I highly recommend - popular shows run out of virtual tickets and you might not get a seat). What I don't know is how early have you all had access to book your shows?

We cruise in 6 weeks, and my guess is that it will go live with showtimes 3-4 weeks out, but I don't want to miss out! I wasn't concerned originally as I thought surely we'd be notified when it happens, but recently, RC sent out an email to My Time Diners to reserve their dinner times now...long story short, only 2/7 people in our party got that email (and it was in their spam folders, to boot!). Thankfully those 2 were vigilant & let us know, because by the time we all got together that evening to pick our times, many options were already full!

  3. Yes you can! I can confirm from my cruise back in Jan 2019, we were able to message without buying wifi.

I know you didn't ask, but I loved the app so much I want to point out it's super helpful for looking up activities (which change and are added all the time on board) so you don't miss out on anything in real time! Also was awesome for us to reschedule entertainment if we realized we wouldn't make it to a show at the time we originally booked.

We are the same as you, we like to disconnect but dang...they just made the app too convenient for me NOT to use! Lol
