Every cruise takes some passengers from Barcelona and some from Civitavecchia on the same trip.

I wondered if this was what the situation was. I didn't think it would be but wasn't sure as I've only sailed out of Florida but have been on quite a few cruises. Seems like it would be tough coordinating all of that. Thanks for the reply!

  2. Wrong on Royals site and Skymiles cruises site. It isn't possible for there to be 8 different 7 night cruises in one month on the same ship. Do they have one of the ships wrong possibly. Looking to book asap but don't know what is wrong.

Actually, if you go to the FAQs for both Royal and Celebrity, they do have the 6 month language in there.  It is pretty standard language for all cruise lines.  It is put in there as a CYA since there are certain countries around the world that do have that requirement.  That being said, it is rarely a requirement from most of the Caribbean countries you will likely visit from Miami.  I am honestly not sure if the cruise line "requirement" or the individual country requirements are the ones to follow.

That might be but they don't require a passport at ALL on Royal or Celebrity for closed loop cruises. I understand what OP is talking about. Birth cert and ID is all thats needed for closed loop.

  4. I liked when they gave cruise certs on the door and based it off your play and some off of how much you won/lost. I used to get good certs worth 500-700 a few years ago before they changed. This time I lost around 2500 on blackjack and played a decent amount of hours. Ended up with 550ish points which is enough for $100 off a cruise.🤣 A couple years back a 2500 loss would get me a good cruise certificate. How do other cruise lines compare as I've only sailed RC but ready to try something else?

so sad to see the passenger counts getting so high, since we are sailing Allure in July.  Guess the good times (empty ships and cheap fares) are over.

Agree. I was on the ship and it wasn't as packed as before covid way more on it than the one we went on in December. Was a ton of kids on it compared to almost none on the december cruise. I think I heard there were 4500 total and 1000 of that kids. And I think the cruise before had 4000 total and only 100 kids or less.

Was a great cruise! Seemed a little under staffed and windjammer isn't what it used to be but was still fun!

  6. Just got back from allure and this last cruise they only served breakfast and then 11-3:30 for lunch. We were disappointed as we usually like to go eat there late after the casino and usually eat it a few times a cruise. Did it once this time just because the timing wasn't when we usually like it. Their BLTs are great and burgers aren't bad. I can think of a lot of other places I'd get rid of before Johnny rockets.  Much better than whats usually in the windjammer. After covid the windjammer has been very meh at best. JRs at it's price is a better value than chops IMO. Chops is high for no better steak than they serve. The one time we went it was packed and had a wait time too.

For those saying it's too high you can get bacon cheese fries, double bacon cheeseburger, chili and an awesome BLT for like 11 bucks. Not that one would eat it all but it's a decent deal.

  7. Thought I'd update the thread. Oddly enough went the day before and barely made the cruise! Left for the airport plenty early but there was a wreck on the interstate that had shut it down and had to go out of the way a ways to make it there. Got to the airport(not inside but parked) 55 min before the last flight of the day and caught a couple breaks or wouldn't have made it. We were checking all airports(withing 3-5 hours) around on the way there thinking the delay on the interstate was going to stop us from making it and none had anything the next day. Everything had sold out at that point.

Moral of the story is it was a wild few hours knowing if we didn't make it we'd miss the cruise! So even the day before isn't a guarantee! But glad we made it and had a good time!

edited to add it was a free cruise too so even if we had went day of and missed getting on somehow but were in florida could have just stayed in Florida for a bit but we like cruising!

  8. Are the minimum bids different for different people? Saw one person here(forgot what cruise ship it was and length) but they got a royal up for $50 and it was accepted. Minimums for my upcoming allure cruise were 270 per person for jr suite, 500ish one bedroom grand, 600ish min for 2 bedroom and 700ish for owners sweet. Put in bids for all of them and haven't heard yes or no. Assuming it will be a no.

Absolutely agree. While Royal may be reaching "their own" set capacities on a very few select sailings....it's demand that is limiting the capacity that ships are sailing at currently. With Royal pumping these ships up with casino and travel industry offers they still can't get them to the capacities that they want them to sail at.

I was going to say as cheap as these cruises are right now it must be from lack of demand more than limiting due to covid. You can get a 6 night on Odyssey of the seas before my Allure for as cheap as $215 per person without any offers or anything. Only 364 for balcony.

Is your cruise a holiday cruise?

Your guess would be as good as mine.  My friend who has been cruises a few times in the past few months says it's about 30-40% full.

I'm assuming during holidays, it would be 50-60% but that's just my guess.

It leaves December 5th. I figure someone here has the numbers. Just a curiosity thing. Will be interesting being on Allure half full or less.

  11. Booked an Allure for December and can't wait to get back on the open seas! Was on one of the last ones before Covid shut things down and not been back on but I'm ready! I was asking the lady at Club Royale how full the ship will be and she said all she was allowed to say was it was at reduced capacity. Any idea how full the ships are? Excited!

  12. I hope not but I realistically don't see any cruises leaving from the US before before spring 2021 at the earliest. I was supposed to be on Symphony right now for 2 weeks and had 2 more cruises booked for late November/first of December 2020 so Covid will have cost me 4 cruises if the winter ones don't go.:(

Excellent news!  The entertainers have very different lives than "Carlos" down in the bowels of the ship, scrubbing toilets in inside cabins.  It makes me feel good knowing he may be able to get out and get fresh air and see some sunshine for a change.
Hopefully they are also giving them all some good grub up in the Windjammer.

We just gotta hope the heat slows this stuff down and they can get back to work after this initial 30 day shutdown.
Unfortunately I don't see the cruise line just letting them all chill out there with pay for months on end.

I wonder what will happen as well if the cruise industry shuts down for 2-3 months. One would think at that point they would just send them home but on the other hand they have to be ready to go when they do start again. And yes the entertainers lead much different lives on the ship than the rest of the crew. They get to do most things the passengers get to do.
