I will never understand the need to belittle posters. It’s definitely not going to be a virus that is our demise. It’s folks that feel the need to post things like ‘why should we care’...
To OP, thank you for passing on the details as it is helpful to others who might be looking at canceling.

No, another link that cannot be opened, can people stop doing this with paid for only links .............please??
If interested (which you clearly are), why not pay? If not, scroll past - its unfortunate that paywalls exist, but there are some folks who do subscribe and the links are helpful.

Hello all,
So, here are my details (mostly)...
Gem - Southern Caribbean out of New York on March 26
Originally booked an inside room in August. Paid off in mid November, within 48 hours (I believe) I received an email about the upgrade for either an Ocean view or a Balcony. I opted only to bid on the balcony.
Now...over the past few months I kept wavering on whether or not I should have booked an ocean view or higher to take better advantage of the free at sea promos. Unfortunately the price just didn't make it justified as I originally booked with the 20% off sale.
BUT, prices have come down for my sailing recently, so I took the plunge to an Oceanview to receive one additional free at sea offer. I immediately went to my upgrade page and I was unable to make any changes. This morning I received an email stating my itinerary had changed and it asked me to now bid on a Balcony or Mini Suite. I have now put in an offer for Balcony (slightly under the 'good' range and Mini suite (middle of fair).
I will follow up once one of the bids has been accepted (positive thinking)!

Sailing on Gem out of New York on March 26 - just received my upgrade email. Currently booked Inside cabin - placed a bid for a Balcony. It would be nice to get the upgrade as the current price for a Balcony has skyrocketed. I am not super confident it will be accepted, but I did put in a mid range 'fair' bid. If it gets accepted, great...if not, I am sure we will still enjoy our cruise!

Hello all,
We are leaving out of New York (Manhattan) in March 2020. I am hoping for some hotel options that will allow us to keep our car parked for the duration (bonus if a shuttle is offered).
Thanks in advance!
Avoid at any cost.

See, this is more of what we need. EVERYONE is stressed about what is happening in the world. Why should we belittle and put someone down because they did not purchase travel insurance. I did not, nor do I generally purchase insurance, you know why? Because I did not expect my vacation to be canceled by a global pandemic...Will I purchase travel insurance that covers pandemics in the future? Probably...
I agree with most that NCL has, for the most part stepped up - however in a lot of ways their hand was forced. I agree with some posters that folks who canceled prior to the peace of mind policy should be offered the same options as others.
This is not the time to criticize others for their decisions, help each other out through this tough time and hopefully we all learn from mistakes and we come out better once everything blows over.
