  1. This is a very sad and tragic event for the man, and all who know him. Also my prays go out to him, his family, friends, the crew/staff and officers who tried to help him and those who saw this happen on board the ship. Seeing some one go overboard will stay in these people hearts and minds for a long time. Very, very dad. I pray that he ids found alive.

    search was called off

  2. This is very sad. This man was on vacation and now may not be coming home. I first heard of this story this evening upon returning home from work, I did go to YouTube and saw the video (wish I hadn't looked). Didn't expect to see it that clear.

You can hear him speaking to another man, saying "you the reason why I'm here!" The other man is heard clearly saying "I'm not leaving until your back on this ship! I believe the Oasis Team was trying to get to him.

A news article said he was 35 and Brazilian.?

I can't even begin to wrap my head around how others on the ship must be feeling. I was on this ship in August with 21 of my closest family members and a few good friends. We had such a wonderful time! IMHO the trip was flawless.

My thoughts and prayers are with this man and his family. While I don't know all the details as to what happen, the details are really not necessary, most important is a life is missing. Someone's child, brother, uncle and friend, or spouse?

The ship returns with one less passenger. :(:(:(

Pray for this man and his family.

That conversation was between the man on board and whomever was trying to get him away from the scene. He said" Im not going anywhere until he is back on board" Not the way you heard it. The man ONboard was also saying that those same people were at fault because they made him (the man ONboard) step out of the room.

  3. Booked on the Aug 28th sailing out of Amsterdam to Norway!. Still trying to figure out what to wear for the cooler temps. Also trying to find out whether HAL trips in Northern Europe are mostly European pax.....which may wear dressier clothes in the evenings.

HAL has me staying at the Movenpik hotel in Amsterdam which appears to be right next door to the cruise passenger terminal.....so I can watch her pull in early morning on embarkation day!!!!!!!!

Nunudie.....I too am going on the NA (Nieuw Amsterdam) in March ....finally. Had booked the NA on a RSVP cruise a few years back...paid as a single $$$$$, and three days prior to sailing wound up in the hospital with a big kidney stone (no travel insurance) so lost the $$$$. So finally getting on the NA, a great precursor to the Koningsdam.

Only draw back to the KD cruise....the stern pool will be unpopular with the cool temps.......so the covered pool will be a mad house.

Already discussed the KD's sister with my HAL consultant.....may book her if she comes to the Caribbean (especially if RSVP charters her).

For now, its time to book my air to Amsterdam......which will be available this Monday......the count down will begin:D

Which sailing on the NA in March? I know what its like to deal with kidney stones.. Been there, done that. Its horrible.

Always get travel insurance! I cant say it enough to my clients. My friend just got $500 back because she left her ipad on a bus in Alaska. Made the insurance worthwhile.

Cant wait to hear how you like the Koningsdam. Say hi to my friend Glenn, the maitre d in Pinnacle.

  4. So.. Has the vibration issue been corrected in Drydock? I am planning on sailing in Nov '15 and really dont want to deal with it. The last ship I sailed on (Celebrity Reflection) was the smoothest riding ship I have been on. I never felt any Vibration. Before that was NCL Getaway and had an aft Haven Suite. The motion was quite annoying. It was like a click, click, click to port side and then a click, click , click to starboard.. UGH. If anyone has a link to anything describing what was done in the last drydock, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

  5. I'm debating about whether or not to purchase UDP. I 'think' we want it, but the reservation times available are terrible :(.

Example: On Day 2 the only time available time for LeBistro is 5:30 :(. Can this be correct? Is LeBistro entirely sold out for the first Sea day or do they hold certain amount of seats for those that just show up? In other words, if we went to LeBistro at 7:00 p.m. would we be able to eat there that night even if we had a hours wait?

Another example: on the second sea day I can't even make any reservation for Cagneys because parties of 2 are unavailable (I can make a single reservation or a party of 4). Even LaCucina only has 5:30 available for party of 2 :(.

Do you think they will open up blocks of time once onboard ship?

We don't mind waiting, but we don't want to purchase UDP if there is a chance we won't be able to dine in our chosen restaurant on our chosen date. In other words, what is the chance of being turned away from a restaurant entirely?

You were able to make your reservations for the specialty restaurants 90 days before sailing. Since you posted on Aug 9, Im guessing you are sailing much sooner than 90 days and this is the reason there arent that many choices for reservations.

  6. I just got off the Breakaway and ate at Ocean Blue while we were on board. We were celebrating our anniversary and the servers took great care of us. The food was very good and presentation was nice as well.

I had the dover sole, which is never less than 40-50 on a menu here in the NY area, when you can find it.

Since I have a food allergy, I spoke directly with the chef whi indicated that Zakarian is on board almost every weekend when they dock in NYC to check quality of provisions, etc. She even joked that he had missed the last 2 weeks as he was filming Iron Chef.

  7. Cordless phones in suite:

The S6 comes with 1 cordless phone, which can be used throughout the ship. It is useful if you have family on board who will be in different locations. You carry the phone with you, and a caller can reach you anywhere on the ship, just by dialing your cabin number. Very helpful if you are traveling with children/teens, and they need to locate you quickly.

Also, the iconcierge app was a great way to stay in touch with all members of our party. Worked wonderfully with our cell phones and ipod touch.

    onTheGoMom921:

First thank you so much for your review -it was most helpful!!! I actually changed our cabin assignment to deck 11 so we will have more room to move around on the sides of the bed :) and having the door to the balcony is fantastic.

I have a question about the in suite cordless phone - I have a 12yr old and would like her to keep in touch with us if she is in the kids camp:

Does the in suite cordless phone have text messaging? Can we arrange another cordless to use?

Do you remember how much NCL charged to utilize the iconcierge app? Did it work well? We have iPhones and we could just use them if this app works well

    Thanks again!

    Leanne

according to the inconcierge pdf you can receive calls from home. do you know what the charges are for that? is it still the same 79 cents per min as the outgoing calls thru the app?
