The aft has a great view of the wake.  We love it but do think there is a bit more vibration and motion which doesn’t bother us.

You didn’t say where you are sailing, but we have been in aft cabins where it is extremely hot and the sun beating on the balcony made it unusable during the day and we had to keep the drapes drawn as the a/c couldn’t keep up with the sun beating on the sliding doors.  On the other hand we were in a aft cabin in September in Alaska and on the balcony in  tee shirts; the ship blocked the wind and the sun kept us warm.

Sorry, we’re on a 10 night cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale to the S. Caribbean.... I’m guessing it could be sunny and hot back there...😂 We’re looking forward to trying the aft cabin.

  2. We booked our first cabin on the back of the ship on deck 9 on the Equinox for September. Can anyone tell me what it’s like having your cabin at the back of the ship? Is it usually quiet back there and how about motion from the ocean? We usually book a balcony cabin midship, this is the first time we’re trying the back. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated 🙂

  3. Thanks for doing this live blog on your cruise...I followed along each and every day as we will be flying out on Thursday and boarding her this Friday! We are almost packed and ready to go. Sounds like debarkation was a nightmare, we'll be heading home this time the day after the cruise so I guess we'll just take our time before getting off the ship at the end of the cruise trying to avoid the craziness you encountered. Thanks again for the great review that you took the time to do. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  4. Thanks George,

I'll check RCCL's website for shuttles and price them out. I don't know if we can use their shuttle going down since we will be arriving a day early but I'll look into it. I thought someone else had posted that they were rather pricey, but then so are the companies I have heard back from so far. Maybe renting a car would be the way to go. I'll have to see what rental car companies are near the port and their policies. Thanks for your info. :)

  5. We are flying in to Houston's Hobby Airport in May and looking into a shuttle or car services from one of the airport hotels in Houston to the port in Galveston for our cruise on Liberty of the Seas, but know very little about any of them. I received a quote from Aviation Limo Services but haven't found any reviews on them. Has anyone used them before and if so, how did you find their pricing and service? I priced out Super Shuttle for my husband and I and found them to be fairly expensive or so it seems anyway. Just looking for any information on what others have found in the way of transportation to the port and what seems to be the best mode of transportation. We've never cruised out of Galveston before so this is a new experience for us, we normally cruise out of Florida.

  6. Kathy, we had a great time onboard!!! We ate at Chops Grille on the second night/first formal night. The food and service were really good. One of the steaks didn't come out prepared right, and/or was cold, and as a replacement, the chef sent out a butterflies filet, which was perfect!!! Cats, Once Upon a Time, the Aqua Show and Frozen in Time were all great productions. Cats is a must see, and is comparable to Broadway!!! If you want to relax, I can't say enough about the Solarium!!! We went there for breakfast at least 3 mornings, and stayed until lunch time. Its a great, kids free zone. As large as the ship is, and as many people that are on board, it never felt crowded. Even when the shows let out, the traffic quickly dispersed to the elevators or other areas. Only on one sea day could I say that one pool was overly crowded, and that was because everyone wanted to join in the volleyball game, or to keep the ball from hitting the water (it made it down to Central Park a few times. lol). If you're a drinker, the drink package is a must!!! It paid for itself several times over. The best and strongest drinks were from Olga in On Air (Long Island Ice Tea, Whiskey Sour and Grand Margarita) and from Boleros (Triple Coconut Mojito). The Pool Bar staff during the night also made some good and strong drinks (same as above minus the Triple Coconut Mojito).

We had a Central Park Balcony cabin on Deck 14. It was a good location, but being under the pool deck, the chair noise started at 6:00am. Also with Heat Wave (Caribbean Band), playing on the pool deck in the afternoon, it made it hard to take an afternoon nap (for us night owls). With that said, in 11 cruises, I have always chosen a location with cabins above and below, and don't know how I missed this during the booking, or while viewing the documents and deck plans

Thanks so much for the information. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and I will make a note of all the things you mentioned not to miss. I look forward to your upcoming review.

    Kathy :)

  7. SJCruiser, Sounds like you had a wonderful cruise onboard Oasis. I will patiently :) await your review as we will be sailing her next fall for the first time and are already very excited to be sailing on a bigger class ship than what we have previously sailed on. I've read a lot of good things about Oasis and will be anxious to hear what you thought. Did you eat at the specialty restaurants and if so, which were not to be missed? Any shows that particularly stood out in your mind too, that are not to be missed? Thanks in advance for your in put and I look forward to reading your review when you have time.

    Kathy:)

  8. Bill, This is an excellent review and I love your writing style. It sounds like you had a wonderful cruise and makes me want my time on Oasis to come much quicker. I'm hoping by the time we sail on her that they have changed the show from CAT'S to something else, though. Thanks for writing this and I look forward to reading about the rest of your last sea day.

    Kathy :)

  9. I'm really enjoying your review so far and all the pictures, I can't wait for more to come. I also noticed that you are sailing on Adventure next, it's funny because when we were on Freedom several weeks ago the cruise you are taking next is the same exact one that I had originally booked on board but then had second thoughts and ended up booking Oasis. We had the same dates chosen as well. :) Eventually we will go back and do the S Caribbean again but air fare to SJU is a lot more expensive than air to Fl. Possibly in 2018, we'll see. Adventure was our very first cruise, the one that got us "hooked" on cruising!

  10. Gambee,

Your review of Oasis was truly amazing! We are just off Freedom last week and booked our next cruise on Oasis. We've never sailed on a ship the size of Oasis and I was a bit intimidated after I booked her for 2017. After reading your review, I am feeling much more sure of my decision to give Oasis a try. I do have one question for you though, do you pre-book the shows you want to see before sailing? On Freedom we just showed up for whatever show we wanted but I thought I read something about having to pre-book them? Is that correct? I hope you and your mom enjoy your next cruise in May and good luck with your schooling for PT, you will be great!

    Kathy :)

  11. Kathy - unfortunately, St. Martin is on the other itinerary, not the Aruba itinerary on May 10. We will go to St. Thomas instead. I think the only solution is for you to book the B2B with me!:D

The good news is that St. Kitts will be on both itineraries, so all of those great sights will still be good for our May 10 cruise, too!

Ginny...I think that sounds like a great idea! :D

  12. Sinny,

What an incredible review so far. I can't wait to read the rest. We are booked on the Jewel next May and your review is really giving us something to look forward to. Your pictures are amazing :) Keep the review going...I can't wait to read the rest! We've been to St. Martin several times before, but never to Maho Beach to see the planes, that is a definite MUST for next May. You are truly an amazing writer.
