Have you been on any other "luxury" cruise line before...Regent, Silversea for example?

(we are scheduled for our first Seabourn cruise in April)

    Thank you.

We have not been on any luxury cruise lines before this one but Azamara was pretty nice too. Quite frankly, we are now spoiled! But since we love cruising in general, if an opportunity presents itself we will consider it. In all our years, we’ve never really had a bad cruise. Some are great, some not so much!

  2. We also just got off the Sojourn on December 1st. It was our first cruise with Seabourn and I can honestly say it was our best cruise ever (and we are very seasoned cruisers). It truly surpassed all our expectations. Dining preferences are certainly "to each his own" and commenting about what one likes and doesn't is free on Cruise Critic. For us, there were absolutely no complaints in that department. We are looking forward to booking another Seabourn cruise in the near future.

I'd try for the SV as quickly as possible.  That is a "true" balcony with an amazing view of the wake.  I've been on both deck 9 and deck 10.  Both great.

    Good luck.

Sorry, one last question before we bid on a SV. I can see on ship photos that some of the balcony may be visible from upper decks. That is ok but is the area immediately outside the sliding doors covered in any way??

  4. Perhaps this topic has been covered many times but I have a specific question about the cabin we have booked on the Edge. Does the round porthole window open to let in fresh air? Someone elsewhere on this board likened these rooms to a mini sunroom balcony. I hope we can get some ocean air in it. We have an opportunity to bid on a move up to a Sunset Veranda. Any thoughts on those cabins?

Oh my!   We saw the marriage game.  that couple did have a great day!  We are considering staying on for the next cruise.  We got a great price (almost half what we paid for this one and that was a great price!).  the future cruise desk said the amount of people on board would be about the same as what is on now.  A couple we met playing trivia booked to stay on so we checked it out and will decide by tonight.

Did you go to the Captains Circle person or the future cruise booking person to get a rate for staying on next week?? I will be boarding on Sat. and wonder if there will be the same offer for the following week.

Looking for people's experiences with the Chef's Table on Princess. My younger daughter and I are major foodies and I'm also a wine lover. I did one of these on Royal Caribbean by myself and loved it, both the food and the company. Would like to book this for myself and my daughter for one of our nights on board if it's good. She is 18 and the cruise is in the Mediterranean, so she's of age for this sailing and will be able to try the wines if she wants.

So far it's not showing in the Medallion app, but our sailing isn't until mid-July. I see bookings available for Sabatini's and Crown Grill, so I'm hoping it's just that they don't make those reservations available until closer in, and not they have scrapped it for the sailing due to Covid.

I don't think you will find the Chef's Table on the Medallion. When we did it on the Majestic in August, we spoke directly with the head maitre'd about getting on the list. Since they were only doing it once on our cruise, we were lucky to get a spot. We loved it. It is a lot about the show but the food was very good and so was the wine. IIMHO, we may not do it again for a couple of years but it was a really fun experience. If you can do it, do it!

Yes, the tour boat picked us up at the ship and dropped us off at the ship. The description on the Princess website doesn't quite match reality.

"Complimentary water and punch are provided on the transfer from the cruise ship to the island. Snacks, hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks are available for purchase on Rendezvous Caye." They did not provide any beverages on the boat to or from the island. When we got to the island, they handed us a ticket that was good for one hamburger and one cup of rum punch. They tomato, onion, lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup available for the hamburgers. They came already with cheese, but I guess someone could ask for one without. Additional cups of rum punch were $2. They also had beer, water, soft drinks, cookies, and chips available for purchase.

The best part was the excellent guide pointing out the various things we were seeing.

Thank you for your prompt and complete answer. I have enjoyed reading this thread with all the great info you have provided.

I enjoyed this morning's snorkeling trip. The best part was being able to board the boat that took us to a tiny island (Rendezvous Caye). The second best part was that we had fewer than half the number normally going--45 instead of 100. Out of the 45, 34 of us snorkeled. They broke us up into two groups. I went with the first group.

The equipment they had for us was fine. We did have to wear vests. The excursion included a snack, which was a hamburger and a cup of rum punch. They did not provide more rum punch for free, but we could purchase it. I was thinking they'd have it available complimentary on the trip back, but they did not.

The first two photos were taken while snorkeling. The one of the sting ray was from the pier. The last one is the island. It's 220 steps lengthwise and 50 in width.

I am considering doing this excursion when on the 2/19 sailing. I have been to Belize and took the shuttle water taxi to the island.  In reading about your tour, am I to understand that the excursion left right from the ship and you did not have to go to the town??

Thanks for the info you've been providing!  Another question... My DH hates the liquid soap and likes the little bars.  I know that on some ship they've stopped providing bars of soap but what's the situation on the Regal?  Also anxious to hear how "dress to impress" differs from "formal" on the Regal.

I also have that same question. In November on the Enchanted, I brought my own bar soap for the shower and my own liquid hand soap for the sink. I didn't need the soap for the sink because there was liquid soap provided in a dispenser on the sink. I will bring my own bar soap for the shower just in case, but is a liquid soap provided for the sink?

Are you talking about Glacier Bay on Aug. 19th? If so, we weren't on the same ship as you! It was somewhat cloudy but the sun was also visible at times.

Sorry, just read back and you were on the cruise prior to us. One note of interest to us was the size of the glacier. We did Glacier Bay in 1996 and couldn't believe how much smaller the glacier was.
Twenty five years of warming hasn't helped! It is still impressive but we didn't have to strain our necks looking up at it.
