  1. most places in havana are reasonably priced. I usually had a couple drinks and entree for $20 or less. That is at a sit down place. You can eat for much less at the counter places. I recommend El Rum Rum de la Habana. Great food, great happy hour specials!

  2. The San Jose Market close to the pier has lots of artwork to choose from. Just know that some of the pieces are mass produced and most of the sellers aren't the artists. That said, I thought there were some very beautiful pieces there reflecting Cuban culture and much more than just the classic cars. I purchased three pieces, two for 15 CUC which he originally tried to sell me for 25. The last which I feel is more original due to the paint drippings and other unique indicators was priced at 50 CUC but I negotiated down to 30. So three nice pieces for less than 60CUC. They will roll them up and put them in a tube for safe transport as well.

Enjoy your trip! Cuba is amazing!

  3. Just off the Victory and on the first day my room steward stopped me and asked if I wanted morning or afternoon room cleaning. He explained the they increased the number of stateroom he was responsible for from 20 - something to 30-something. Unfortunately I was caught off guard since I hadn't seen this thread and choose evening service. He was very accomodating, but I don't feel I should have paid full gratuities.

  4. Just got off Valor Sunday and there was hand sanitizer everywhere but mostly just up against the wall. Different from what I am accustom to with Royal Carribean where at the dining rooms they have sanitizer front and center with someone there to "remind" those that pass it up. As a food microbiologist, I appreciate the practice Royal has in place. On carnival I rarely, if ever, saw anyone use the sanitizer. Because of this, I made a point to avoid the buffet most days. I mostly ordered room service and occasionally ate at the deli or burrito bar. I understand that we are exposed to billions of germs every day and we cannot live in a bubble, but I like to minimize the risk of food borne illnesses as much as possible when traveling. I can't (and do not want to) imagine what it would be like to be sick with Noro or a bacterial infection on a cruise ship.

All that said, I LOVED this cruise!

  5. Went to Falmouth on a cruise last December and we went on a great tour! visited dunns river falls, which I don't remember being that far away. Then the guide took us river tubing and we stopped at a local place to eat. He offered us time for shopping but we declined. our admission to the falls was included in our tour price, so was the tubing. I love Jamaica and the people of the island. If you go with a laid back attitude, you will have nothing but fun! mark Morris aw the tour guide I worked with for our visit.

  6. I have only been on one cruise and I can tell you that it is already my preferred travel option, especially when a port is only a 30 minute ride away.. have a good time on your upcoming cruises.

Thanks! Hope you have a great time too! Will be looking forward to a review of your cruise in May.:)
