  1. We have been going back and forth with our TA since March.  We paid in full almost a year in advance. Our TA told us last week that Uniworld would not give us $$, they are only offering Cruise Credit -- choices:  Book for same time frame in 2021 guaranteed price the same, or FCC until end of 2022.  And you can use the FCC on any of their Sister companies.  Also, we had Alianz cancel any reason insurance.  The insurance is good for 700+ days from booking (to be transferred)-- so we have till 8/31/2021 to use it.  We considered claiming funds through ins. in the beginning of this fiasco, however, TA discouraged that because of the loss we would take.  She "said" we may be able to get refund or extension on the insurance.  LOL.  We are ok with taking a trip later or a different trip.  Our biggest worry is that the company will be out of business and then we lose the whole ball of wax.  Does anyone understand the policy they have regarding canceling or moving trip a second time?  Not easy to understand 2020 policy vs 2021 policy and policy regarding the FCC usage.  Has anyone requested FCC and then gone to CC company for refund instead?

  2. We did not purchase the Uniwold Travel Insurance.  We purchased Cancel for any reason policy- Alianz.  However, we are not going to use it, we will be able to apply it to our next trip.  If Uniworld had not cancelled by the 50% FCC/Refund date of 29 days, we were going to take their 50/50 offer.  We had no intention filing  insurance claim for the $400 deposit on Airfare through a charter flight.  (Again, not Uniworld).  Since the insurance would only pay 80%, makes most sense for us to lose the $400 and even if we get FCC until 2022, we are good, especially since it can be used for their sister companies.  Our ins policy is transferrable even if we don't have a date. If Uniworld offers full cash since they cancelled, all the better.  We eventually plan to take that trip.

  3. Yes, I was just informed yesterday.  We have been holding off cancelling our 24 May Uniworld to Bordeaux. So, now we will just wait until our TA notifies us of options.  Our Insurance will be transferrable.  We lost our $400 dep on our Pre trip Paris hotel and our flight - (cancelled before balance was due), but that is not bad in our eyes compared to the trip itself.

  4. radioman:  We told our TA to pull the plug last week.  We went back and forth a bit and then she said we should hold off to see if they cancel.  She said from what she has been seeing she "thought" we may get full refund if they cancel the cruise.  However, we will not want to go past the 50% FCC/ 50% refund point.  The only reason we will do the 50/50 is that we will not lose our insurance, it can be transferred to the next trip.  Of all the money and deposits we will only lose $400, unless of course we are still in this disaster next year.  In that case we will use the CA insurance.

  5. Does anyone know up to what date Uniworld has cancelled their cruises?  We are on a trip to France that would depart Bordeaux on May 24.  We have cancel anytime insurance.  Our airfare was booked through Delta, we will deal with that separately.  We decided to hold off cancelling because we were thinking cruise would most likely have to be cancelled through Uniworld and we would get 100% refund.  We are queasy  about taking a FCC  or booking in May of 2021 - too many unknowns about the virus.  At this point we would be eligible for 50% FCC and 50% refund.  Our travel partners convinced us to wait, we were ready to cancel when our penalty would be 35% FCC.  Maybe it is better we just use our Cancel anytime INS?

  6. Absolutely cancelled our cruise that would leave 3/22 from Miami.  Will be cancelling river cruise in France; we are due to leave 5/19.  Common sense.  Evaluating $$ for second one right now.  We got a voucher for the March Cruise and Uniworld has a good  cancellation program presently.  Just deciding if cash or rebook better.  We may lose some $ but better than landing in quarantine - ICU - dead.  What fun would that be.  All of the guidance from the experts should be taken seriously.  I am not teflon.
