  1. Well with TUIs most recent unsurprising update regarding refunds, I'll be lucky to see my money before 2022

I remember when British Airways had the IT meltdown, our flights got cancelled and we had to book other flights out of pocket.

We didn't get that money back for about 6 months and there was Hella amounts of hoops to jump

Tui Refunds will be 12 months plus

First you need to wait for their credit note to arrive (post/email) no timeframe given on that.

That just gives you access to monopoly play money, you then need to sit in a telephone queue for what I can imagine will be 4hours plus with thousands of other victims begging for our money back

I feel like a bank, giving TUI a nice 0% interest loan for 12 months 😂

Nothing personal about TUI, nothing but Business

I won't be booking another holiday VIA TUI and hope they go bust, their employees will get new jobs.

Whilst the owners lose the most, as it should be.

If a company doesn't have enough capital to handle itself in the event of a disaster they shouldn't be trading, too many big wigs taking the big bonuses every year.

  2. Nothing any of us can do about the lack of quick refunds

Hopefully we all get our money back, before they go bust (a possible outcome in my opinion)

Hopefully a lot of people choose to rebook for a holiday in 12 months so they have enough padding to process my refund, before their accounts department give the big wigs the bad news

Still, I reckon closer to 3 months minimum before we see the refunds

  3. Tui are keeping a tight lip regarding our cruise in May which docks at Livorno and Naples (the first having confirmed cases of the coronavirus and the latter having been recently "fumigated" against it)

Livorno and Naples both currently have 0 excursions available on our TUI excursion planner.

If nothing changes on the excursions front, it will be due to advice TUI have received from the locations, so if they fail to relay that information to us as the passengers (prior to boarding) we will not be impressed.

At this point in time I fully expect to board the ship with no further communication from TUI regarding the trip, which will result in the crew politely telling passengers that they will be unable to disembark at Livorno due to coronavirus and that Naples is also off-limits (or may be partially accessible, but extensive travel beyond the city limits is not recommended)

Or something to that extent, although a lot can change in the next month or so, TUI are running a business so are looking to judge the situation nearer the time.

Hopefully no one has a cruise in the next week or two to these destinations, as they don't seem interested in providing refunds or changes to holidays unless the FCO recommends against it, which is poor considering TUI have no excursions available for 2 of the 5 city ports.
