Well there will be plenty of young and also older than us who didn't have the jab and obviously it won't protect everyone. They are checking to see if a jab will work. Or, just maybe if you get it, you won't get it badly, because your immune response is good.

Let's hope so. Type BCG and virus into Google. There are lots of sites talking about it.
-
Well firstly you would need the government to lift it's advice about over 70s going on cruises! Until they do, it's a no-no.

I remember that too. I was lucky enough not to have to have the vaccination if the reactions of those that did was anything to go by.
Avril
My only reaction was the scab that formed. Nothing else.

That's interesting. I might just remember that. I have also just read that the USA didn't use BCG much at all, they didn't think it necessary. Hmmmmm
I would have thought that if it lasted for 60 years, it would probably last longer.

No, a true story, although the efficacy of the jab is still tbc.
My Mum was a school nurse (anyone remember them ?) and she gave me my jab.
Yes, we all stood in a queue and I don't know about you, but mine formed a nasty scab and I still have the scar. It's apparently a live vaccine and can last 60 years. The flu vaccines we get aren't live.

No, not an April fool. University of Exeter Medical School plus some others are doing a trial of this.

How many of us remember having our BCG jab at school when we were about 14? Just read today that they think it may protect against the virus. Uni of Exeter Med school doing trials. Sorry the only link is from The Sun, but..........

Agree, I would never book online. I always use a Travel Agent. Always get what I want.
-
I would take the refund and wait. There is no knowing when cruises will start again and the FCC is worthless if the company folds.

I agree with you.
-
With all this going on and the finish held up, I would think they would put it all on hold until next year. we will see.
-
Definitely take the refund. That's what we have done.
-
USA had 4968 new cases today! That's nearly as bad as Italy.

I assume the same as if you were making a normal 'paid' booking.
If you cancel a booking booked with FCC, the FCC carries over to the next cruise. It is not refunded.

I have one in October - won't happen.
I have one in April 2021 - a possibility.

Can I clarify something:
- if P&O have cancelled your cruise (as they have mine on April 3rd), then you still get the 125% FCC as detailed in the email from them?
- if you decide to cancel, then the FCC is 110%?
Basically, am I still going to get 125% FCC for my cancelled April cruise or has it now fallen to 110%?
Thanks!
If they have cancelled your cruise, you can get a refund. Personally I would go for that.

I am truly appalled at this decision by P&O. We are booked for May 7th out of Malta. I cannot see how that cruise will go ahead and so will wait for them to cancel the cruise and flights! Sadly we have 2 more cruises booked with them for May 2021. After this changed approach I wish now we were not booked with them for next year. They will be our last P&O cruises for sure. Terrible way to treat passengers especially the over 70s.
Of course it will be cancelled and then there will be refunds. It's surely just so that they can get the first lot out of the way until they cancel the next lot. Eventually they all will be cancelled.
-
If you all wait until they cancel, you can have a full refund. They have to refund if they cancel the cruise. Obviously they want you to take the FCC, but if you wait, they all will be cancelled.

It is not a couple of mouse clicks. The person who cancels your cruise, puts in a code. One code for a full refund, another for a percentage plus a cruise credit. That then all goes to the Finance Department who then do the refunds. Sometimes it's to a travel agent, sometimes direct. I was told this by the nice lady at P&O who called me. No wonder it will take up to 45 days.
-
I cancelled my cruise later in April and certainly haven't had a cancellation email of any kind. Although the nice lady at P&O put my mind at rest.
-
Why would you be paying a balance at this stage? I wouldn't be parting with my money any time soon.
-
Just swapped my Parking4Cruises dates. No hassle at all.

Surely if you cancel your impending current cruise and receive part cash part FCC and you then make another booking for late next year using your FCC then it therefore cannot be lost as you have turned it into an actual booking and then be covered by ABTA bonding.
I asked that question. If you turn an FCC into a booking and then you cancel, you will still have an FCC which carries forward. Not a refund.

Why? There have to be some medicines and vaccines which will do the same thing as a new one. Anything is possible.
