  1. We were told even if you request the bed's to be separated with your reservation they still put them together as you'll see when you first enter your cabin. When the cabin steward comes by to introduce themselves just ask that the beds should be separated. If you leave the cabin early and have not seen the cabin steward leave a note on the bed requesting your wishes and they'll take care of it by the time you return for the evening. Remember they are also having to work on getting the luggage delivered to the cabins. We have never had a problem. Enjoy your cruise:)

  2. lancelady: We'll board the Infinity on March 5, 2017 in Buenos Aires, and will leave on April 17th in San Diego. I haven't been very active on any of those roll calls since all of the ports will be repeats (and in several cases multiple repeats), and we have plans for most of them. But it is a great itinerary.

In 2015 we boarded the Infinity in Buenos Aires on February 15th for the Antarctic cruise followed by the cruises from BA to Valparaiso and then from V onto Ft. Lauderdale for a B2B2B series. Were you on the first two legs too?

2010 we flew to Santiago for 5 days then cruised from Val. to BA, This is the first time boarding 3/5/17 in BA thru to Miami 4/2/17. It is a great itinerary. I'm not active on the roll calls but I do read them from time to time, if anything I usually wait until a few months before then there are times I will do a few postings. We arrive BA 3/3 as we have seen so much so we are going to just do whatever we feel at the time. Need to check out the Hop On Hop Off trolley if they stop close to the hotel maybe that would be an option. Looking forward to this trip.

  3. A moving experience from our recent British Isles cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette. We contracted with Overlord Tours for a trip to see Omaha and Utah Beaches along with the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach. Very moving.

Thank you for sharing brings back many memories of our tour to Normandy Sept. 2000 this is something everyone should see. So glad we did and it still brings tears to our eyes. It is very moving.

  4. While it appears that the OP is no longer interested in a South American cruise just wanted to comment that we enjoyed our B2B2B South American cruises on the Infinity so much in 2015 ("Miaminice" was on our middle leg) that we are flying down to Buenos Aires in March, 2017 to join the Infinity on another B2B2B series.

We will also be on the March B2B sailing from BA to Miami. Have been on the Infinity Val. to BA and RT BA (Antarctica).

  5. Just read a post a month ago that's it's not as easy as it use to be to use traveler's check's at stores, etc. even in Europe, but it was mentioned it was easier to cash them on board. Cashed in what I had on ship with no problems, best to use what I had, and put the $ on the side for when it's needed. The traveler's check's I had were from 2006.

  6. We will be on the Vision 11/15/14. Remember there are times the ship cannot make all the ports and be thankful as most of the time you don't know the real reason until later. If you are sailing from the US that's one thing. How would you like to fly from US to Europe and miss 2 ports on your way back to the US that you really wanted to make and have booked tours (which we booked and were reimbursed for those 2 cancelled tours thru RCL) This happened twice for us. On our 13 ni. Antarctica cruise due to high seas/low visibility we could not make it to Antarctica so we needed to head back to Ushusia, Argentina and then when all was cleared we could continue to Antarctica This was to be 3 day cruise in Antarctica (not walking on the glaciers just cruising). We were lucky we had only 6 hours before we were told we needed to head back to Argentina due to the weather but I will always remember and be thankful at least we were able to experience the feeling and the air in this part of the world is something you will never forget. Thanks for those 6 hrs. After our experiences I would never complain as to how and why we had to miss a port. You can never under estimate the seas.

  7. Re: Price drop ? Military

On your Royal Caribbean Booking Confirmation under the section that shows your Reservation ID: under Sailing Date it should show Promo Restrictions: if it shows "Military Discount" then you have the military discount and need to bring the DD214. That promo section will tell what discount you have. If you do a mock booking check the prices for ILL and Military. if either is cheaper call your TA or RCL or who ever you booked with. You do not get a military discount by bringing the DD214 to the pier that has to be stated on your booking.

  8. Do to a health issue I have with smoke regardless if it's cigarette, leaf burning, environment issues, etc. my throat closes up and I cannot swallow, I have to go on pills, injections and inhalers so I have no problem telling the cruise line the area I have a problem with which I have done many times and after that there was no smoke smell in the walkways again. It's not a dislike just a health issue. Furthermore, my two brothers died of lung cancer due to smoking. Therefore I'm very vocal about this issue. I do not want to end up like them, I prefer to small and enjoy the flowers, etc. not looking up at them.

  9. On the Brillance Repro cruise the casino smoke was very noticeable in the Centrum and the 6th deck where the casino is also noticed it on deck 5. I have health problems from smoke smell so for me I have a tendency to notice it more than others. I could not be in these areas. Also people were smoking before the muster started so if you have issues with this tell those to check you in and they will let you sit indoors.

  10. RCL has changed their rules re: bringing wine aboard at your first port ex. Ft. Lauderdale, or Port Canaveral or where-ever. You can now bring 2 bottles of wine per cabin on board. We were just on the Vision 12/14/12 and had no problems the change which became effective 12/1/12.

There are many posts re: this subject here on CC. Enjoy your cruise.

  11. I would bring water or get water from the WJ. The sink ran very-very slow in our cabin on deck 3 and I have never drank water from the sink in all of our 29 cruises.

Thanks to DarthGrady for this review we were on this same sailing and it was a great cruise with very friendly people. We also like this size of ship. Thanks for all the great photo's and review.

Wishing all of you a Happy New Year.

  12. Trainman, we are really enjoying your review on the Panama Canal. We did our 1st one 1999 from San Juan to Los Angeles, 2009 from San Diego to FLL. Brings back many memories as these were our 40th and 50th anniversary cruises. Looking forward to your San D to FLL trip.

Fantastic photo's your doing a great job with your new camera. We are both photo nuts and appreciate what your doing.

One question for you, if you recall at your ports what deck are they using to disembark ? We will be sailing 12/14.

Thanks, have a great return cruise.

  13. Just returned from a European trip, plus cruise ship. I had no problem with the CPAP machine. I keep all the hoses/mask in plastic bags and they only check the machine as a rule. This year they did not swab any part of the machine they were more concerned with my hands that they swabed and passed us thru. We always get distilled water from the ship and never had been charged plus we get an extension cord. The outlets are usually at the other side of the cabin from where the bed is placed. (Depends on the cruise line). Since it is a medical device you are not charged with an extra carry on. No one ever questioned us on our flights. We had 3 flights on our way back to the US. I think they are now used to seeing these devices. Mine has always been stored in the overhead and never had been asked to have it put under the seat. One thing we found in Europe are that the prongs are different than what the US states they are for that country. We found especially in Italy hotels the coffee maker outlets are compatible with the prongs stated we can use. Check out more than one outlet in the room.

They are not the same. This time we were only in hotels in Italy before and after our cruises.

  14. Great report and photo's brings back our memories of the same trip 4/09.The Infinity will be going into dry dock late 2011 so hopefully they will get rid of those horrible dryers (lets hope). We also sailed on Infinity 1/31/10 South America/Antarctica as well as Valpariso to Buenos Aires 1/05. Looking forward to sailing on her again after being refurbished and more cabins added.

Enjoy your cruise and again thanks for sharing your photo's.

  15. Thanks for sharing Song of America, this was our first cruise 11/86 but

we did the Eastern Caribbean. I will never forget the section of the ship

where you had to go down steps or up steps to get to areas which were on the the same deck. At that time we thought that ship was so large.

I remember telling my father who had been a sailor about the new ship being built the Soverign of the Seas being the draft was so shallow

he said it will never float. Wish he was alive to see it did float and also

all the new ships that are so much larger do float.
