I would be shocked if they drove giant busses up there

It was years ago, but they used one of those "giant busses."  It was compounded not only by the twists and turns but the many bicyclists who were risking their lives on that road.

as long as we all keep plunking our money down and accepting less for our money

Don't the following equate to "more for our money?"

Since they have done the "free" at sea with the beverage package and free specialty dining

Then we earned platinum status, and got 2 more specialty dinners.

They have for me.  When we first sailed a person had to take out a second mortgage to add on unlimited drinks and specialty dining.  Back then we sailed inside and didn't get any of those without paying extra.

Sure.  Why would they not have been a week ago?  Life changes on a dime.  There is never a guarantee of safety anywhere.  We read the papers and we do what we think best and that's all we can do.  Did you notice I live in NY?  Cabo and PV are looking pretty good from here, lol.

Good point.  That said, I wouldn't visit NYC either.  What's happening in Mexico and some parts of the US doesn't happen where I live, for many good reasons.

We are booked on the Bliss in a couple of weeks.  Right now I would not get off the ship in Mazatlan but I'm still very comfortable with Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.  In Acapulco I decided to book a short ship-sponsored tour that does not leave the tourist areas.

I'm guessing that a week ago the passengers were also "very comfortable" getting off in Mazatlan.

Sorry I wasn’t more specific.  I’m concerned about the drug violence such as kidnappings, fires to vehicles, blocked roads as well as related physical injury and death.

Hope to travel to Mexican Riviera.

I share your concerns, although I'm guessing we are in a very small minority.  I don't sail to Mexico, and if I did it is highly unlikely that I would get off the ship.  Historically, resort areas in Mexico have been safe......until they're not.

Perfectly said. It seams that all cruise companies, NCL including, want to go out of business and do not know how. Do not get us wrong. Cruise is our preferred type of travel. For us, it is better then land tour or all inclusive resort. Yes, the industry lost a lot of money during pandemic and because of that many people had to rethink their way of travel and vacation. In our opinion all these increases in fees (DSC, beverage gratuities,..)  and reductions in services are very discouraging and will make many people, including us, think twice before booking next cruise.

Back in the day, the Cruise lines had to service their customers.  Now, they have to service their customers and also service huge debts.  It's the same across the industry.  If increased prices/reduced perks makes a cruise not worthwhile for you, then you should find a holiday venue that does.  Ultimately, they have to look out for only the best interests of their shareholders.
