  1. I am on the British Isles Cruise with a London extension this summer.  Does any one have any experience with the timing of the transfer from ship to hotel? I called Viking and they said they would have us to the hotel “on time”, whatever that means.  She said that although we would need to be out of our cabins earlier in the morning, we would wait on the ship for them to call us to the tender to disembark and then take us to the hotel.  I want to book tickets to tour Westminster Abbey which is only a 4 minute walk from our hotel but don’t know what time to book them for.  What time did you get to your hotel?

We took your exact tour about 5 years ago. The land tour handles everything when you are in Seward to get you on the ship. No worries for you. When in Fairbanks, try to visit Pioneer Park. It's a must see.

Will try but airlines have messed with our flights and we r arriving rather late the night before.  So unless it’s on the tour…🤷🏻‍♀️

  3. I posted this in the “Alaska” port area but it was suggested I try here.

We r on the Royal Caribbean land/sea tour. The land tour starts in Fairbanks and the cruise on Radiance of the Seas starts in Seward. My understanding is Royal Caribbean is enforcing their check-in times.  Since RC is providing the transportation to Seward, I had no idea what time they would get us there.  So I called RC and they said it’s a 3 hr drive and we r supposed to leave around noon so make check-in at about 3 hrs later. But he didn’t sound too confident.  Has anyone had experience with the land-sea tour transition recently and can speak to how they handle boarding from their own land tour?

There are quite a few who seem to believe that herd immunity is achieved by vaccination alone. It is not. Herd immunity = Vaccinated plus previously infected plus naturally immune. And there are a LOT of previously infected people who have been advised by their physician not to get vaccinated.

Yeah I’d get a new dr.

There is NO such thing as a vaccine "passport".  Nothing ever issued by the US Government.  Nothing ever issued by any other nation.

What is being talked about here is being required to show proof of vaccination.  The only proof, other than from your lips, is the card or paper you get from the facility where you get vaccinated that says you have a vaccination.  This may also be shared with your medical provider if you got a shot in another place.

But here's nothing "legal/official" about these pieces of paper.  A government entity cannot compile a list of vaccinated people to share with the public.  These pieces of paper can be easily be counterfeited and indeed there are reports you can buy on off Craig Lists or eBay.

Some states are opting for the privacy of individuals versus a dictatorial mandate to show some form of proof to enter a business or attend an event.

Simply get he vaccine and then you won't have to worry about testing positive or catching it from someone.

Well true as far as it goes.  Each state has an IIS (immunization information system) which tracks immunizations. Currently it can only be used if you lose your vaccination card to get another one or if there is ever a problem with a particular lot number of a vaccine, the recipients can be notified.  My hope is it will eventually allow various entities to verify Covid vaccination when appropriate.

  7. I'll bet it's the walk to elevators! That makes sense. I hope there is no soot. I know there is no obstruction at least for this cabin. There wasn't any soot or obstruction on Jewel. There's no worries about what you can or cannot see when in port or approaching port or at sea because your view encompasses both sides of the ship.

  8. I was able to score an aft facing balcony cabin on Brilliance. I had this on Jewel and thought it was amazing. Yet it is my experience that it is less expensive than other balcony cabins of the same class. Is there some reason for that or is it just part of the vagaries of cabin pricing?

  9. I wouldn't do Alaska without an aft balcony. The ship will most likely traverse a fjord. You can see much more from an aft balcony than you can from any other cabin balcony. We had our friends in our cabin for quite a few times. We drank champagne, ordered a lot of room service and saw a lot of whales, eagles, glaciers, etc!

  10. I am on JOS Sept 11 to Alaska. I purchased the Primier/Premium/middle/whatever alcoholic drink package. I'm thinking that I'm really not going to be on deck with a frozen cocktail much although I might have some at an indoor bar occasionally. Other then getting a WJ coffee/hot chocolate and mixing it with a shot of Baileys or other alcohol, are there any hot drinks I can order by name at a bar that are served hot? Would they be included in my drink package? Also, can you use the coke souvenir with hot drinks or should I bring my coffee travel mug from home to use in WJ? If I remember correctly WJ cups are small.
