  1. Did bring the shoebag along a few cruises ago when we three ladies sailed together. However, in the end, it actually got used for the shoes. It was nice not having shoes scattered on the floor. And they were easy to find. :)

Also did use it once for cosmetics and miscellaneous items. I liked that kind of organization. Easy enough to bring along.

  2. Celebrated DH birthday on the Liberty of the Seas on March 5. I ordered the chocolate birthday cake for about $17.00. The frosting was chocolate and Happy Birthday with his name was written in red. It really was delicious. And served well our table of 10. I brought decorations for the room from home. But nothing was done by RCCL itself. Although our room steward made the best towel animal that day.

  3. You'll have to tell me what was so bad about Casablanca now!! What does the ship do if it doesn't dock? Just keep going?

The ships shorter excursion took us to a fish market, a rug factory with some pressure to buy (my experience) and then to the mosque (which was beautiful). On returning to the port, we took the shuttle to town to visit the bazaar. It was many stalls of about the same thing and pressure from children to give them money. We felt safe at the market stalls along the road but not deep into the market. We are shoppers but did not buy anything. Maybe others had a better experience. Friends on board did not care for the trip to Marakesh.

  4. I had read before I went on my cruise that on different occasions the Spirit hasn't docked at Lanzarote. My opinion is that they should not call it a Canary Island cruise if it isn't going to get as far as the one and only Canary Island on the itinerary. My husband and I felt we didn't dock because we were sailing against a strong wind heading to Malaga and time would have been tight. By not stopping at Lanzarote we were able to have a slow rocky cruise home:eek:

That is how we felt also. This cruise needs another name, especially since they changed a stop to port Tenerife to Casablanca and now have only one Canary Island on the itinerary. Also because Lanzarote seems to be a difficult one to dock at and chances are good that you will not be visiting this island. Loved Madeira and Malaga. Casablanca was a bummer. We really did have the ride of our life on the Spirit.

  5. Thank you for your excellent review. It is very thorough. We were on this cruise and really enjoyed ourselves in spite of the swells and missing an island. It was really something to write home about!

The food was excellent. Enjoyed the lovely main dining room Windows. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Just wish they had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. The sherbert at dessert tasted like real ice cream. Delicious.

Our balcony room on the 10th level 10036 was extremely small for 3 ladies but we coped well. It was quite a shock at first after having had a junior suite on the Jade a few years back. There were smell issues in the bathroom but the sink was repaired, and they apologized and sent 2 bottles of wine to the room.

Madeira and Malaga were beautiful and interesting. Could have done without Casablanca. The weather on those days was great. Don't miss the Cathedal in Malaga. Just Magnificent. And keep a close watch on your items in this area. Had a bag of souvenirs taken at the outdoor cafe.

Very happy to have had the opportunity to see this lovely area of the world.

If you have any questions, please let me know also.

  6. Hi,

I just upgraded to a 2 family suite on the Jade, under the pool area, and am wondering if I made a major mistake.

We are 3 ladies and I thought the perks and separate sleeping areas and 2 bathrooms would be a big plus. But does the noise above continue after 11 pm.

    Thank you for your help.

    Marilyn
