  1. My CAS "Free at Sea" cabin cost me about 1600 bucks.  We had a free interior room and wanted to upgrade to a balcony.  We paid the difference, which was something like 450 a person.  Then we had to pay the tax on the drink package, (120 pp?)  then it was the prepaid gratuties (224 pp), and finally we paid for trip insurance since we are flying out of Chicago in February.

The fine print does state that "Specialty Coffees do not include any beverages served inside licensed Starbucks® stores/cafes."  But it also states that is, "entitles you to any 15 specialty espresso-based coffees."  It doesn't specify number of shots or size.  Maybe it could be that an add-on shot is considered a second menu item,do it's two punched, but the large size is a single menu item.  I think I'd argue that point.  But for me, it's a moot point - I don't really drink specialty coffees.  I prefer just a good cup of black coffee, or maybe a triple espresso if available.

I was on The Odyssey in March and the drinks were the smaller size and 1 punch each.  If I wanted a larger drink it was considered 2 punches.  I ended up getting 2 of the smaller drinks and pouring them into my insulated cup from the beverage package.  Maybe it was a 12 oz size?  I can't remember.

  3. My husband wears shorts and collared shirt to MDR and trust me, he's more covered up than some of the women I've seen.  Short dresses, sleeveless...my Catholic School fifth grade nun wouldn't know what to do with herself.  None of that has stopped me from polishing off the bread basket, however.  What other people wear or don't wear to dinner does not impact my dining experience at all.  How can men wearing shorts bother anyone when you might see them for 30 seconds before they sit down? Just enjoy your apple blossom and ice cream--it's all good.

  4. My husband just received a free cruise offer from the casino marketing dept. The dates don't really work for us--have to book by April 27 for cruises in May and June.  If we don't take advantage of the offer will there be offers in the future or is it more a "use it or lose it" type of situation?

  5. I regretted buying the card.  Final cost was $36.00.  I am an iced coffee addict and was so disappointed in what I could get---the iced latte was only in one size--maybe 12 oz? but most of the cup was ice.  I would have to get 2 coffees at a time.  Choices were very limited (I am used to Starbucks size menus).  If you want an extra shot of espresso it's an extra punch.    By day 3 I was walking past Starbucks and fighting the urge to go in.

  6. I am looking at the Fly Snooze Cruise package through Go Port--was wondering if the shuttle pick up from the hotel to the cruise port is direct or does it stop along the way at other hotels?  How long does the trip usually take?  I see some hotels have pick up options at 10:30, others 11 or 11:30.....but not sure when the shuttle actually gets to the port.

  7. I just got off Odyssey a few days ago--the cups weren't in my cabin, either.  We went to the kiosk where they were selling the Drink Packages and got one from there but the guy wasn't happy.  He wanted us to get them from a bar.   They had huge displays of all the different cups with boxes full on the floor next to him so I'm not sure what the big deal was.

  8. Have to agree with Solarium Bistro--what a great place to eat.  What's not great?? The incredibly rude people that I witnessed.  Not a lot, but man, there were some jerks out there.   The staff were amazing and so friendly and HARD WORKING!  No reason to be rude and demanding.  As for the chair hogs in the Solarium....saw one day where there were some sticky notes on some of the seats that had times written on them and then staff removed towels.  It didn't happen nearly often enough, however.  I sat next to 2 prime spot chairs that had towels on them when I got there at 8:30 and remained vacant when I left at noon.  That was very frustrating as I was  watching people walk aimlessly looking for seats.

I loved the Odyssey and would go back in a NY minute.  My husband seems to have fallen prey to the gastro bug that was going around.  We are hand washing freaks, so not sure where exactly he picked it up.

For those who were involved in the coffee card discussion.....I drank iced lattes every day.  They only came in one size and when I asked for a larger cup I was told I would be charged an extra punch.  Then I didn't get the larger cup because apparently they don't make larger iced latte cups. I ended up ordering 2 drinks at a time and still had punches left over this morning.  As long as you get at least 8 drinks I think you come out saving money as they are 4.25 without gratuity.
