Have a great cruise and do have a rest. Thank you so much for this thread, really good photos from Day 1. For me the best was the early photo of the rolls and rolls of carpet woven by Brintons only 10 miles from my home, in a way this picture made this amazing upgrade very personal. And I look forward to seeing Quest in May after it's upgrade.

Once again my thanks and please Chill out on your cruise.

  2. We have an Az cruise booked through a TA which includes an OBC. The OBC is shown on the Az 'Confirmation Invoice - Guest Copy' firstly under the 'Promotions Applied' section and then further below the On Board Credit is shown divided between both guests.

If your does not show it I suggest you take it up with TA.

    Hope that helps

  3. I am so pleased that we have cruised with Azamara several times since 2012. I am so pleased that we have had the opportunity to use the Sunset Bar for breakfast, lunch and dinner on many, many occasions, including a Panama Canal transit and up river to Seville. It appears that we won't be able to enjoy one of the best places on either of the ships soon, as it will be an 'out of bounds' area other than in the evening, and then it will be a chargeable venue. Making the Pool Grill bigger and better is not a replacement.

This is not progress, it just a means of increasing revenue.

Sorry Azamara but I feel that you are making a mistake with this one.

Can you add to that, such as when in April, plus what happens to 'existing' cruises mid April onwards. From our personal point of view we are booked on the 1 May Dubai cruise, and if this is not going to happen we need to know sooner rather than later, so we can look elsewhere.

  5. If you book a package do they charge you for the last day of the cruise, when you're off the ship at 7am?

This happened to my OH last week on Eclipse. When we queried it, they did refund the charge for departure day. I recommend that anyone either buying either package or upgrading does the maths. There is no way they can charge for a day when you are departing and there are no bars open.

  6. OK, we are in the UK and are sailing on Eclipse in about 3 weeks time. I have today spoken to my TA about this mess, and she has forwarded to me an email they received from Celebrity regarding the Classic Package on 23 May. It shows that spirits and cocktails up to $8, beer to $6 and wine to $9 are included. It also shows brands included and shows differences for UK and Alaska (by added brands). I have a difficulty in understanding why Celebrity's left hand doesn't know what it's right hand is doing!

  7. I have to say this is an extremely lame and outdated position from Azamara. I'm not sure why you restate the wine package details Bill, as that has no bearing on the sparkling wine open-bar issue.

I thought Azamara were trying to position themselves with the luxury lines? Clearly not!

Cavas, Proseccos and a multitude of other sparkling whites have exploded in popularity particularly throughout Europe and to not even include one option by the glass at a bar is frankly rather third world. These sparkling wines are priced on a par with standard red and white wines, so cost can't be the problem here.

As it is, the only option on Azamara to have a standard glass of sparkling wine (without paying ludicrous additional prices) is to wait for the 'celebratory' events to be able to treat oneself to a half measure of warm flat 'bubbles' that's been sat on a tray for an hour.

    Very very poor indeed.

Bill, can you please advise how we can take this particular issue further?

I don't know whether you have cruised with Az before, in fact from what you say I doubt it. They do not serve at celebratory events 'warm flat bubbles that have been on a tray for an hour'. End of.

I do however agree that it's not beyond the realms of reality to expect a fizz of Prosecco or Cava levels to be included in the gratis drinks.

And I have no doubt that in a few months time Az will have realised, and sorted this problem out, as they will with the soft drinks/beers that are also causing consternation to some fellow cruisers.

This will not spoil our upcoming cruise even though The Boss only drinks fizz, Az have solved that problem by giving us an OBC! We know what it will be spent on.

    Give them time.
