  1. NCL really should update the entertainment. We skipped Rock of Ages, Burn the Floor, and Cirque Dreams. We have cruised with NCL about 15 times since 2006. Caught every act on previous cruises. Spent every night in Fat Cats Lounge just to hear something different.

The chance to dream wine and listen to a show didn't appeal to us. After 1 glass I would be asleep.

The Christmas show in the theater was geared toward kids in the daily. So why did the singer performing "Santa Baby" have a cigarette in her hand and the guys dancing with her, walk off smoking a cigarette? Not really appropriate for kids. Rock of Ages has very talented guitar players but to include them in the kids Christmas show playing so loud, made many kids cry. I'm not a prude but this show wasn't kid friendly.

It appears NCL is trying to cut cost on entertainment but that's the wrong dept to cut. Try cutting the cost of pictures and drinks. Not everyone purchases or receive drink packages. With the additional tip added into the price of a single drink which is already high, leaves most people trying to stay on a budget, torn between a high price picture or a glass of wine with dinner. About the same price.

    Just my 2 cents.

  2. So we just returned from the Breakaway 2 night ago. As a Platinum member we received the box of Godiva candy upon arrival in the room.

For the first couple of nights we had the small candy bars on the pillow.

I guess when the room steward noticed I just put them uneaten on the night stand, he stopped giving them to us. He never asked if I still wanted them, which I did. I was trying to build up a stash to satisfy my craving. I was hoping I would have 5 or 6 to enjoy. Or, he saw me walk down the hall and decided my big butt didn't need another piece of candy.:)

No biggie but I did kinda miss getting them but not enough to bring it to his attention.

  3. We just got back today.

To answer the ? On reservations at the MDR. We had reservations and was surprised there was only one line. We didn't try to cut in front of the 100 people in front of us. When we got to the hostess, we told her what time our reservations was for and she never suggested that we skipped the line and just check in with her. That was my only complaint about the dining room experience. When the dancers are scheduled to perform, be prepared to wait, 30 minutes or more.

  4. We just got back today. JC is a great CD. Love watching him dance and he really entertains the crowds. I noticed how he watches will include the small people and the single people that appears too shy to join in. It appeared as if he changed their whole outlook on the cruise once he got them involved.

    Two thumbs up for JC.

  5. Cruised on NCL Pearl 17 -24 Feb 2013, and our group used Courtney's service. We had a large group, so he sent a small bus. It was a very nice ride thru Fern Gully, stopped by a large supermarket for beer and/or sodas. Grabbed meat patties under the bus drivers watchful eyes while others from the group went somewhere else(shopping maybe). This tour also included a stop at a mall for coffee and t-shirts. Visited a local "Spice" man. A great highlight to this trip. Very fresh spices. Swimming at the Blue Hole. Beautiful waterfalls. We have been to Dunn's waterfall, Blue Hole was 10 times better. It's a small off the beaten path place. One small group was there when we got there. Worth every penny of the tour just to go there. Finished the tour by eating at Scotchies(great prices). Was offered several choices at the end, to be dropped off at a beach or returned to the port. We returned to the port and walked around the area.

Never felt unsafe. Plenty of police and guards keeping the locals away from nagging you.

The total of our tour was $35 pp. Loved it.

  6. We went to the Chocolate Factory last Sept. I emailed the owners and reserved it for 2 but our tablemates decided to join us when we got to the port. The taxi driver had trouble finding it because it was still a new location for the tourist. The owner welcomed us and didn't mind the extra company. We purchaed lots of candy bars there. When we shopped later at Los Cinco Soles in the downtown area, the candy was there, at a higher price.

It was well worth the trip and experience. The owner told the driver what time our tour would wrap up and he was there waiting. It was a very short taxi ride back to the downtown area. The 4 of us paid maybe 12 bucks total going there and maybe 7 when we were dropped off.

    Hope this helps.
