You can certainly ask when you board, but it is probably best going to each MDR in turn to find the one that is open. We have found sometimes crew will blatantly lie and tell you only the buffet is open: the last two times we explicitly asked about the MDR embarkation lunch and each time crew members told us the MDRs are all closed and we should instead go to the buffet.

We now know to go to the MDRs to find the open one: which doesn’t take long.

Thanks for the info....I'm putting it in my calendar with a reminder - "embankment lunch - MDR". See ya there 😅

    OK, dumb question.

What's the difference between Casual Meals (the two meals included in the Plus package) and Specialty Dining? I see these two mentioned on different threads? Does it depend on the restaurant, or just a different way to name it?

Casual Meals, depending on ship, consists of Steamers, Planks, Alfredo's, etc. These use to be free but have been added to the packages.

Specialty restaurants, once again depending on the ship, consists of Crown Grill, Sabatinis and were extra ($35/pp currently). If you purchase the premium package you get 2 (I believe) free.

Heres a good article for reference https://www.cruisewith.co.uk/cruise-tips/princess-cruises-dining
