  1. We just returned from India.  We flew through AMS on the way to Mumbai and through CDG on the way home from Delhi.  Both airports are difficult; signage is poor and the corridors are jam packed with travelers.  We had 5 hour layovers in both locations but the airline clubs are just fine.  But I determined that next time we will try to find a non-stop routing if possible and not worry about the additional cost.

Another suggestion -- ship your luggage ahead so that it is there when you get there.  Luggage has frequently gone astray in both AMS and CDG.  And LHR is probably holding the worst record for missed placed luggage.

  2. Bill and Mary Ann --

I read with true enjoyment the daily posting of your travels.  I have attempted to email you on your blog but without success.  And then I find you here on Cruise Critic -- I should have known you would be here too.  Occasionally you will mention the on board movie playing in the theater.  Promptly I check our local library and frequently find that the movie is here too.  And I go get it and while watching it I dream of cruising with you two.  Please continue to have fun.

  3. We just traveled from Miami to Glasgow via LHR.  And as Techno123 suggests, there is indeed a mountain of luggage which did not make the connections chosen.  We chose to ship our luggage in advance to Glasgow (and it was in our hotel room when we arrived).  Some others in our tour group lost their luggage in LHR.  My suggestion is avoid LHR if you can or ship your luggage in advance.  Luggage Free is the carrier we chose.

  4. My wife and I just returned from Central Europe. During that time we visited several of the cities that you have mentioned. But let me add yet another city for you to consider; and it is Prague. Of all of the cities that we visited, without a doubt Prague is our favorite. The locals are very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable. And the sights are terrific. Another plus is that Prague is close to all the spots where you are thinking of going.

  5. We were in London just last September. Instead of staying in a hotel, we decided to rent a flat (apartment). We found one at a reasonable price and right next door to the British Museum. Bus and tube stops very closeby too. And the beauty of the flat is the additional space compared to a hotel room. And using the kitchen makes a lot of sense (and cents, too). We found our home away from home using onefinestay.com.

Good luck and enjoy your time in London.

  6. Hi Sandra,

Our rented flat is in the Bloombury area. Actually quite close to the British Museum. Tottenham Court Road tube stop is nearby. We are there for 5 days before moving towards Southampton in order to board ship for a TransAtlantic sailing in September.

    Regards, Page

  7. Sandra, My wife and I are going to be in London at the end of August. We have rented an apartment (flat) in London using an on line broker. That broker is one fine stay. Their website is onefinestay dot com. You will find a variety of options, locations and prices.

    Enjoy.
