  1. You can take a ferry to Placencia if you want to escape the manufactured island in favor of the real Belize... It takes only about 15 minutes, and there are restaurants and a nice beach away from the hustle and bustle of cruise passengers...

Do you know if someone who uses a walker/wheelchair would be able to get on and off the ferry and get around in town?

  2. hi

Received edocs which shows our free perks eg UBP and OBC credit, but doesnt show the extras I have paid since making final payment eg speciality dining, soda package for daughter and water. Is this normal?

They are shown in my NCL account but not edocs!

Would you suggest I take payment confirmation with me and sort out onboard?

    Thanks

After reading this post, I checked my edocs against my NCL account and saw that $150 of my OBC was not listed on my edocs. I called NCL, they checked my reservation, and all the OBC was listed. The NCL rep told me as long as it shows up on the reservation, all was good! Sooo worth a 10 minute phone call!

  3. I'm a first time cruiser who will be on the Escape to the Western Carribean in May. Our first stop is Roatan and I really want to go to Daniel Johnson's to see the sloths but I'm not sure how the itinerary times work. The itinerary on NCL says we will be in port from 10am until 6pm. Is that port time or is that the ship time? Also does it take a long time to get off the ship once.

docked? If it docks at 10, would 10:30 be a feasible time to start an excursion or should it be later? Thanks in advance for any help.

Once you contact Daniel, he'll let you know the best time to meet up. The people who run tours are very aware of the ship schedules!

  4. Thanks so much, that's helpful! I'm thinking we will narrow it down to Blue Kay or Tropicante. Sounds like both are good choices!

We went to Tropicante a couple years ago and will be going again on April 26th. Chairs are free. The food is excellent, you can get a cheap beach massage and the beer is cold. It's run by an American guy named Steve who will take great care of you!

  5. Did the price above your room category also drop? Was it close to what you paid? If you politely ask the cruise lines usually try to accommodate you. Maybe you can go to the next room category or get the OBC? I have gotten many upgrades and OBC when I saw a room price drop. It has never been much of a problem. Call and ask. If you used a travel agent, have them ask.

On our last cruise, on the Jade in November, the prices dropped about 2 weeks before we sailed. I called and politely asked for an upgrade. We were upgraded to a mini-suite. We have the same itinerary, also on the Jade, booked for April 23rd and it's almost sold out. The last prices shown were over $600 more per person for the same category. You win some, you lose some. Book the cabin you want, at the price you are comfortable with, and don't expect anything else. That way, you'll either be happy or extra happy

  6. We were on the Jade for the 11/20 sailing last month. We arrived about 10:30. It was complete chaos. We couldn't get near the drop off area to drop our bags and after we lugged our bags to the port, there were no porters to take our bags and we had to lug all of our luggage onto the ship ourselves. I complained to the check in staff about the lack of porters and they said there were plenty, without even checking if my complaint was valid. It was the worst check in with Norwegian ever. Maybe it is better now, or if you arrive after 12.

Wow- we had the complete opposite experience on November 13th. We got an email from NCL telling us to arrive at 11:30. We got there at about 11. We waited in line for maybe 5 minutes, checked in and walked right on. Best embarkation EVER
