I have another question on Tabyana beach excursion with Carnival.  Since the excursion does not include food and drinks, do you run a tab or pay as you go?

We visited Tabyana beach last May and we will able to run a tab.

  2. My daughter and I were talking today and decided instead of taking the train, maybe we should get transport. I usually book a tour through italytoursharing but this time we just want to walk around on our own.

I was just wondering if anyone has just got transport there and back and the approx. cost?

I may post on my roll call and see if I can get a few of us interested even though I am aware it will be a lot more than the train.

You might want to check out/research smartcruisetours. They offer a bus shuttle from the port to Rome and then back to the port for 19 euro per person. I have emailed them twice with questions and they were always prompt and thorough-- I'll have to see if their service is as well :) Their guided tours have received mixed reviews so maybe there is someone on the boards that can share their experience with their transfer/shuttle service? Enjoy your day in Rome!

  3. Be sure you specify that you want a driver very familiar with Naples - many of the drivers from the big services are from Sorrento and other parts of the suburban area. I've had issues finding drivers even within the city who know the section of Naples my family comes from (because it's now a pretty dicey area so if you don't live there you wouldn't go there).

Good point! I will definitely inquire.

  4. We are planning a day trip to Naples from Rome prior to our cruise and looking for a driver/translator for the day. My mother was born and raised in Naples and we are wanting someone who knows the area well. My mom wont be able to join us on the cruise, but fortunately, she still recalls the addresses and street names of where she lived, her father's businesses, etc. I've priced some of the larger tour companies who can provide a driver/translator but before I book with one of them I thought I would check if anyone on CC could recommend an individual, student or company they may have recently used. We are beyond excited about our day in Naples and know if will be a memorable one.

  5. We booked the 10 day June 2016 sailing in a midship balcony cabin and I'm starting to rethink our cabin choice. We are a family of 3 adults and I am beginning to question the use of the balcony since the cruise is port intensive vs having the extra washroom and square footage of the deluxe ocean view. Which would you choose and why? The deluxe ocean view is located either deck 2 or deck 3 forward. The balcony is located midship deck 7. Help me decide!:

  6. I made a reservation online this past weekend and received a confirmation email that said they accept Visa, MC and cash. Does your credit card company charge a Foreign Transaction Fee (aka international fee)? If you are not sure, you may want to give them a call. The fee is usually around 3%. Have fun!

  7. We are considering the AIO at Mr Sanchos this summer when we dock in Cozumel. We will have our 32 and 22 year old sons with us, so an AIO is kind of a must. But I think they may also want to parasail or jet ski. I emailed and the stock email said the AIO doesn't include parasail. But can we "buy" a parasail ride or jet ski once we are there? Has anyone done this.

    Thanks!

Hi, not sure if you saw this on Mr. Sanchos website site but under "packages" they offer a Ride and Fly (ATV and parasailing) for $95 and a Splash and Fly (water park and parasailing) for $70. Looks as if it will be less expensive than booking the parasailing separately after you get there. Whatever you choose, enjoy your day. Planning on going there in August!

What is Carnival's cancelation policy for shore excursions?

I also read something about the best price guarantee. Very nice of Carnival to do that.

I copied this directly from Carnival's website regarding their shore excursion cancellation policy. Hope this helps!

Can I cancel or add to my shore tour order?

    Online

Orders must be cancelled online and no cancellation charges will be assessed if done prior to the pre-sail cut-off time (11:30pm, the evening prior to the cruise departure). Any cancellations done afterwards must be handled on board.

In the event of pre-sailing, online cancellations, a full refund will automatically be posted to the credit card used to secure the order.

Please allow 5-7 business days for the credit to reflect on your account.

    On board

After the pre-sails cut off date, cancellations must be handled on board and cancellation charges are as follows:

    25% charge once on board

100% charge if cancellation within 24 hours of arrival in port

Refunds less cancellation charges will be applied in the form of a credit to the guest's Sail & Sign account.

Sail & Sign credit balances will be paid to the guest in the form of a Carnival check at the end of the voyage.

  9. We are in port Sunday from 1:00 until 7:00 and thinking about heading over to Arawak Cay to explore the shops/restaurants. Gotta have some conch fritters! Just wondering if a lot of the shops/restaurants close on Sunday.

  10. We have not been to Freeport but took a land vacation to Nassau. Have you considered the pirates museum and/or the Ardastra Zoo? If you go to the zoo try to catch the march of the flamingos! I'm sure you can find alot of information on here for both and also the museum and the zoo have websites where you can find pricing, coupons and more information. Good luck with your decision-- have fun!

  11. If you plan on eating there, it's not cost effective to purchase the food separately. They still have the same food and the prices are $22 per person for a plate.

I'm prepared to spend the same amount, just hoping there was something else to feed 2 extremely picky eaters. I was told they sold hamburgers and such, but wanted to confirm from someone who has been there recently. If not, we will make do-- definitely not going there for the food :)

  12. Yes there are plenty of vans and taxis available and the cost for 6 passengers is around $22.00 each way. I'm not aware of any senior citizen discounts. There's plenty of shade at Chankanaab. We were there last summer and really enjoyed it. You will find aot of reviews and photos of Chankanaab on these boards. Enjoy your trip! We will be there again in July.
