no upgrade really does not have any impact if they are moving you for capacity reasons. You might want to see if you can get the bookings linked.

Yes TRLD you’re right - our TA called Princess to have the bookings linked & that connected cabins are needed for health/caregiving reasons - if they need the 3/4 person obst OV cabin maybe we’ll get moved to connected balconies 🤣🤞🏻

I booked a 14 day Alaskan cruise directly with Princess back in January.  Final payment was three days ago.  We couldn't afford an oceanview cabin or better, this time around.   But, we decided to book an obstructed view cabin.  There weren't many left, but we found one with a pretty good view. ( I used a website that shows pictures of the views).  Last night I got an email saying they are moving us to a cabin beside the one we had booked.  They said the reason was that the one we booked could accommodate 4 people and there are only 2 of us.  The new (they call it an upgrade) does not have as good a view.  The one we had booked was between two tenders.  The new one is blocked by the front of the tender.   We aren't happy about this change at all.  Before I get on the phone today, is there anything I can do?

Masonchar thanks for your post - my friend & I just booked yesterday - we booked adjoining obstructed OV cabins with 1 person in each cabin - after reading your post I checked & 1 cabin is a 3/4 person - I would be really angry if Princess bumped us out, we specifically wanted adjoining cabins - booked both through Expedia but they have separate booking #’s - I will be calling/messaging to make sure our Bookings are marked No Upgrade

  3. We’ll be on Regal Princess & will be snorkeling on Roatan on Dec 6th - Roatan is our first port & I thought we’d snorkel there & then have Cozumel as a back up if needed when we’re there on the 8th -  The reviews of the Princess snorkel excursions weren’t very good so we’re booked with Victor Bodden Tours (they offer a private off shore snorkel as well as the party boat) - I’ll let you know how it goes 🙂🏖️ 🤿

  4. I recommend heading up to the GoKarts ASAP to book your times, especially if you want the double karts (they only run a few times during the cruise)

Also recommend the Laser Tag area for great viewing/photos in Glacier Bay, was much less crowded than other areas - and was a great place to let kids run around, play hide & seek, etc - we went there many times and never saw anyone actually doing Laser Tag 🤷🏻‍♀️

The question seems to be is it reasonable to expect an olive pit in a lobster cake.

An olive pit in a Greek salad? Yes. Fish bones in fish? Yes.

I think that because olives are stated in the menu’s description of the dish & that will get Princess off the hook for being 100% negligent - a judge might say that knowing about the olives you should have been more careful - have you asked a lawyer’s opinion?

Were they ever open when the ship was in Port? We're considering NCL for the end of a European trip next summer, and I suspect the kids will be ready for some down time even during Port days by then. I like the NCL itinerary and food better than the RCL option but this is a big factor for us.

No, was closed - Our itinerary had 2 half days in port and only 1 full day (opened at 7pm, left port at 8:15pm) so kids went every day (to give us a break 😉) - was open on sea days 9am to noon, 2pm to 4pm & 7pm to 11pm

  7. Just got back from taking my 2 grandkids to Alaska - in Seattle all my paperwork was taken and copied (the NCL form signed by both parents, the scan I had of their IDs & a handwritten letter with the information for Canada) in your situation I would suggest having written proof/court docs your son has sole/full custody (when we signed kids up for Splash Academy they took copy of NCL form again)

  8. We just got off Encore - cruised to Alaska with my 7 yo twin granddaughters - embarkation day is the only time adults can ‘tour’ Splash Academy, after that no adults can go past the gates so if you want to go inside & check it out… Sea Day hours were 9am to noon, 2pm to 4pm & then 7pm to 11pm - there is a fee after 11pm - Port Day hours vary - kids were excited to go… played basketball, LOTS of interesting crafts/artwork, played Mario Cart - Sea Days were very busy & they said harder to get a chance to do some activities (600 kids under 18yrs on our sailing) - the staff were great

Not entirely sure what you are asking. Usually nothing related directly to buying CruiseNext certificates -but the only way to buy them is from NCL onboard or through a 3rd party.

Sometimes there are advantages to booking onboard. If you are booking a cruise now, you can look at their CruiseFirst certificates (same 50% discount) but there are a number of restrictions - specifically they have to be purchased in advance.

If you book onboard, you can get a room upgrade, within the same category, inside, OV or balcony. Sometimes (although not recently to my knowledge) they offer a discount for booking onboard - has nothing to do with purchasing CruiseNext but that is the department that handles on-board bookings.

And I have run into a situation where the CN staff required a CN purchase before they would reprice/do an onboard-upgrade on a previously booked cruise.

Ahh.. I think I understand… if I book my next cruise that’s how to get extra benefits rather than just buying a CN deposit, thanks

    Hello, I'm Graham.

I'll be on that ship and my companion also won't be able to make it, so if anybody wants to get dinner or a drink at any point I'd be game.

Also, I'm looking to do some scuba diving while in Lahaina.  Any other divers aboard by chance?

hi Graham, you should go to the Roll Call for our cruise to ask about scuba diving 🙂

we should arrange a Solo meet up, there are a few other solos on the Roll Call

Same with my husband...ankles swell a LOT when he drinks ship water, but mine don't. Have no idea why. So we do buy bottled water for him and I drink both bottled and ship water, and I'm fine.  Maybe it is some of the heart or other medications that he's on that cause the reaction to the ship water.  It's a mystery, but real.

My mother’s ankles would swell when she travelled, Dr said it was caused by eating foods higher in salt than she normally ate at home

I recently booked online with RCCL - I noticed that if I switched to Canada the price was much higher than if I stayed as US - even when booking as US I could select Canada (BC) as my location - my credit card charged me 38% exchange, if I had booked in CAN$ the website was charging 60% exchange   😡😡

Sorry, I need to correct/clarify - I should have posted…. Please check your cruise pricing in both USD & CDN as it seems that some discounts aren’t being calculated properly in CDN $ - for my solo cruise the difference was $250CDN

(saying the website was charging 60% exchange wasn’t accurate)

thanks for your comments which made the situation clearer for me 🙂
