  1. Does anyone have a small travel fan to cruise with?

My fiancé prefers to sleep with a fan, so looking for one with decent power but small enough/compact enough to travel with

First Celebrity cruise or just first on Reflection?

Essentially, on the Solstice class ships (and to some extent the Millennium class), there is a large main dining room at the lower back of the ship (two floors) where you can eat a relatively nice meal with good service.  Also, menus on the S and the M class for the main dining room are pretty familiar across the ships with some variety, but also a lot of "classic" options.

At other places on the ship are the SPECIALTY restaurants, and they have their OWN menus - often with a specialty like steak, sushi, etc..

And, of course, you have the buffet at the top rear (Oceanview), which serves food all day and into the late evening, and you could easily eat there anytime.  Other smaller food places as well scattered about the ship and plenty of bars (generally no food).

The Edge class ships went the route of FOUR main dining rooms with - I think (never gone) their own menus.

Thank you, first time on any celebrity ship !

What do you mean by added when you booked? You booked All Included with Drinks and WiFi or you paid separately for the drink package? You can only adjust the price if you purchased drinks separately.

    All included, see pic

  4. We are doing a short cruise on the Reflection, our first time on Celebrity (but doing the Beyond next year)
So if you had to pick one speciality restaurant/meal to do on the Reflection what would it be?

Also, side question, are there any locations for a sit-down, non buffet option for breakfast and/or lunch?

check out my review of our very first Celebrity cruise which also happens to be on Reflection. We really liked it.

If you like dancing, don't miss the silent disco.

Check out lounges for musical entertainment.

    Queen sing-along was marvelous.

They have Truvia at the buffet and MDR in case that's what you bring with you on a cruise.

You can bring your own soda onboard - whatever you can carry on at embarkation. We stopped by Publix and got some for us. Otherwise, if you don't have a package, it's almost $5 per can. Oh, and apparently they don't have Dr Pepper on board if that's what you like.

Oh, and something we didn't know but if you need beach/pool towels on a port day, they check them out to you by the pool the day of (as in - they write down the cabin number). If we knew that, we'd have grabbed some by the pool the day before when they don't take your cabin number down.

Thank you, I noticed in your other post you said you booked with valuetrips for the Hyatt . Have you booked with them before, we are needing a place for June for this cruise.

You'll check in 45 days in advance. That will get you a port arrival time, when you'll have a quick passport check before you board when the ship is ready (and priority guests have boarded).

    • We dined in Lawn Club Grill last week and enjoyed it. Booked with the first night discount in the cruise planner and used some OBC.

Thanks, so if our port arrival time is later can we ask it to be moved eariler?
Also what is "first night discount"?

  7. June will be our first time on the Celebrity line (Reflection) on a short 3 night cruise, is it worth doing any specialty restaurants? If so which?
Also another side question, can you check-in at any time? We will be there 2 days before in Ft.Lauderdale.

You've already had some good answers. I'll add more detail:

    - The drink package cost is different from ship to ship /time to time, and it often goes on sale.  Ignore the percents off and Buy-One-Get-One-Frees; instead, look only at the total cost.  You'll have to add 18% mandatory gratuity to the cost of the drink package.  If the price goes down, you can call in and ask for a price match.

    - Do note that you'll have to pay up front for your drink package (on the day you book it).  It won't be added to the cost of your cruise.

    - For sure, the drink package will cost more on the ship.

    - You can pay gratuities up front or pay them on the ship.  Your choice.  If you want to pay up front (and you've already booked), call Royal's customer service and ask them to add it to your bill.  Unlike the drink package, they won't ask for payment right away -- they'll add gratuities to your pay-it-later bill.

    - Royal's customer service can have a long wait time -- if you'll call early or late, you'll get right through.

Do they advertise cruises that may offer the Buy-One-Get-One-Free drink packages?

  9. I am trying to talk my fiancee into trying an alaska cruise, we are usually caribbean people. So I have a couple questions.

What month would be the most ideal warmer weather wise?
What would be the best line/ship for indoor adult only pool areas? Can outdoor pools or hot tubs be used at all?

I'm sailing the Viva next year. I chose that one because it sails from San Juan which is my favorite port to sail from. Plus I haven't been to 4 of the 6 ports before.

I have never sailed from San Juan as well, what do you like, do you usually stay before the cruise?

  11. We wanted to take a cruise to Greece but heard that is a horrible idea because of the crowds of people all getting off the ships at the same time, lines, overcrowding of tourists in the areas and won’t see much because of this.
So wanted to ask if they port with the larger ships?
