YES you cannot enter Australia without a visa. They are easy, electronic and take only a few minutes.  The cost is $20 AUD (about 14 USD).  Make sure you use the correct visa site with " .gov.au"  in the address line.  Visas and citizenship (homeaffairs.gov.au)

yeah I had to get an ETA for both Australia and New Zealand since I have a connecting flight there.

On this cruise with the restrictions on domestic luggage/carry on on my economy flight, I will be travelling light and washing my shirts in the sink to dry on the "clothesline" in the shower. I pack 8 days of shirts/underwear/socks plus a dress shirt for if I book specialty restaurants. 2 pairs of shorts should keep me going in this tropical paradise. The last two times I didn't wear socks very often but I always wished I had more clean shirts. In many of the island ports you can get cool hawaiian shirts for $10 that are handmade and don't have labels. I supplement with those.

I'll wear a light jacket on the plane and hope I don't freeze when we get to seattle. Sneakers, sandals and water shoes... I've done this itinerary in reverse before twice. Life is good! The only time you will be cold is if the AC in your stateroom gets stuck on. If you get free laundry you are in better shape than me! Hope this helps.

I packed super light as well, I am bringing sine travel size tide detergent to do some laundry in the sink.  I had to forgo some of my liquids in my quart size bag but figured I'd make do in carnival's shop if I have to.  I was able to tightly roll up 11 days worth in my carry on and came out under 15 pound for my New Zealand restriction, Yay.   I hate it that I can't bring a standard back pack as my personal bag!  Again, thank God for the robes in the room, LMAO!!!

Wear what you want, just don't be a slob....no offense.

I've worn Bermuda shorts, and a polo w/shoes

Typically I wear some pants like dark jeans and a polo with Vans

I wouldn't suggest a speedo/swim trunks/baggies with a wife beater and flip flops, "Thongs" in Australian, seriously.

Me and my whole family wore flip flops and such to an elegant night and they just sat us in an adjacent room, lol.  However, we dressed up more next time so we didn't feel like outcast.

Quite a few people have mentioned that they are travelling solo.  A travel mate is setting up a meet and greet for solo people to meet up and maybe find people to quiz with or have dinner with.  We did this last year on the Transatlantic from Seattle to Sydney.  We always managed a table for 8 - 10 at dinner.  It was really pleasant.  So if you want some people to chat with and care to join us we are getting together at the Red Frog Pub at 3 pm on Friday (first sea day).  See you there !

Yay!  I will definitely be there!  I was hoping to find other's traveling alone to possibly join with for the dinners.  Looking forward to it!

Hello.....How can you book something like this on such short notice?

    LOL

Just FYI all, I plan to write a trip report on this cruise, I encourage all of you to join and participate with your thoughts and opinions.

The information on Luminosa is very limited, so this may help a few out in the future

The timing was just right for me to take off that amount of time and go for it.  I do have to thank my carnvial cruise planner in finding my flights and helping me get everything in order quickly.  My dad introduced me to cruising in 2016 and I loved it!  I was able to go on 4 cruises with him, the last one was with his ashes this past August to Bermuda.  I wasn't sure if I would want to cruise again until this offer came and I think it will be a form of therapy for me.

Also, I have learned loads from this sweet couple, Rob & Ali, that have been on this ship several times since it's debut last fall that showcase several videos on youtube and on their website, robandali.net.

Hi everyone.  I am booked on this cruise and going solo.  I will be flying into Sydney on April 3, spending a few days there, then flying to New Zealand for a week.  I plan on renting a car and driving from Auckland to Christchurch and seeing all the sites along the way.  This will be my first time in Australia and New Zealand, and I am very excited, though not looking forward to the long plane ride.

I just got back a few weeks ago from the Celebration transatlantic which was the longest cruise I had been on to date. Hoping I don't get sick of my own company 🙂

Hi, I am going solo as well!  This will be my first cruise going solo.  I got offered a great cruise deal that I could not pass up and no family or friends were able to take off with me.  Although, I did not get this deal until a week ago, lol.  I am hoping to meet new friends and not get sick of my own company as well!

  7. Hi ya'll!  I just booked this cruise about a week ago and I am so excited!  This will be my longest cruise to date.  I was disappointed that all the excursions in Tahiti were booked, other than watching the sunset which I can do from the boat, lol.  I was happy to get an exit row seat on my 14.5 flight into Auckland, considering all the good seats were gone.  Too bad on the weight restrictions because I do not check anything!  Figured, well they give you a robe so I'll use it and may not even bother tying it by day 8!  Just Kidding!!!  I did see someone post a question about getting an internet discount along with booking your excursions and yes it does work.  Just need to put in your discount code that appears when you click on internet plans and then add all of your excursions to your cart and check out.  I am so hoping the internet works well so that I can google meet my kiddos back at home.  24 more days!!!
