  1. I ended up calling dolphin discovery and they were able to book me the royal swim vip in Cozumel with free 15 minute Manatee encounter, includes buffet, open bar, sea lion show, snorkeling, lockers, etc. for $103 per adult

Maybe not through the cruise line but I see Royal Swim VIP listed on their website. Not sure if this is different to what you are considering, but is the difference significant enough to warrant independent travel?

We certainly had a family member that did dolphin and manatee combo once at Chankanaab but i know they offer a lot of different combinations and levels, based on age, so I don’t know what exact programs they offer and whether all locations offer the same thing.

Ship tours to the mainland often have to wait for the dedicated ferry, which will actually go to whichever pier you are at. Independently you will not have that luxury.

This was going to be booked on my own, not through Princess. I do agree that that hauling over to the mainland would be a pain, I'm going to call and see if I can make my own package or add on other interactions. The royal swim VIP you mentioned looks to be a dolphin swim but more behaviors than with some of the other packages. I see they have packages for each of the 3 animals, but they all overlap in what they cover so I don't want to book more than one.

Why not just do the Royal Swim at the location on Cozumel and save the hassle?

unless the cruiseline offers the mainland location (which I doubt) transport via land and ferry would be up to you, which wouldn’t be worth it to me.

I would either do Aventuras during a mainland vacation or choose the Cozumel location.

The Dolphin Discovery on Cozumel doesn't have a combo swim package, its only dolphin, or manatee, or sea lion. That's how they're on my radar.

  4. Has anyone gone to the Dolphin Discovery location in Puerto Aventuras? They have a Royal Swim Plus program that includes in water interactions with dolphins, manatees and sea lions but it says its an hour from Cozumel and a bit of a hassle to get to. We're in port from 9am-7pm so I think we'd have time, just not sure if it's worth the hassle.

When I tried to do a mock booking  here’s what this category and room says:

Caribbean Princess A409 (BA category )

    connects with A405

    Bed Configuration:

    Twin Bed

Note: For 3rd or 4th Guest, 1 rollaway bed is permanently placed in your cabin.

so perhaps somebody might still have pictures of this exact room. Sounds like you can only have twin beds , no queen configuration and they will bring a rollaway .perhaps no beds coming out of the ceiling. I did a mock booking for three people.

Wow, thank you! I booked so long ago I forgot what it said when I booked but I did remember something about a rollaway. I guess I'll find out in a couple weeks for sure lol!

I don’t believe a rollaway bed is allowed for a cabin for three people.

If you tell us what category room you have ,I’m sure someone has pictures of the cabin that you booked, not necessarily the exact cabin number ,but the category .Might help you get a better understanding of what the pull down bed looks like or the couch bed .

We are in A409, its a veranda cabin. From the pic on their website, I can't see where it would come out of. Maybe someone does have a better pic

  8. I will be in Belize on the Caribbean Princess on July 12 and was wondering which has better snorkeling, Rendezvous Caye, Goff’s Caye or Caye Caulker. All 3 look great but there doesn't seem like much shade or activity on Goff's Caye and I'm not sure how snorkeling from the beach on Caye Caulker is. My kids (11 and 13) don't want to snorkel with the sharks and rays. Princess only has a snorkeling tour to Rendezvous Caye so I'd also have to either plan to go on our own or find another tour company for the other locations.  Any recommendations?

  9. I'm sailing on the Caribbean Princess on July 8 with my 2 children (11 and 13 years old). Does anyone know what we do as far a 3rd bed? When I look at pics of the room (Veranda) I didn't see a couch that would be able to be converted. Anyone have experience with this situation?

  10. I'm cruising on Celebrity Equinox on June 10-18 with my 2 children aged 11 and 13 who've never cruised or snorkeled before. They tend to be on the scared side. I was going to book a snorkel with turtles tour, but then noticed it appears to be in deep water and I'm afraid they'll be too afraid to participate. I was planning to just go to a beach and snorkel, most likely at Magen's Beach. I'll need to rent equipment. Is this the best bet to see sea turtles? Any other suggestions?
