  1. Last January, on the price out of Baltimore. Tons of snow all over. Even some snow on the decks on embarkation.

It was fun...but really foggy and creepy cause we usually leave out of Florida...

  2. Hello, has anyone cruised over Halloween on Carnival?

I understand from our booking agent there will be trick-or-treating for the children, the ship will be decorated, and there is a costume contest for the adults.

How child-appropriate is the Halloween cruise? We have 5 children with us, and would prefer not to expose them to anything too raunchy. Halloween does tend to give otherwise upstanding citizens an excuse to be sleazy or trashy.

Also, are the decorations scary and dark, or just spooky and silly?

    Thanks!

The decorations on the Splendor were those lawn blow up things...nothing scary.

Costumes were mainly fun, some raunchy, guess it all depends on that specific group of passengers. Worst I saw was some slutty nurse sort of costume

  3. Hey Tom, How was the Pride?? We cruised on her in April, Loved her, but, hopefully, I/we want to do the Dream next/again, hoping OCT this year.

Sorry, I don't have any Free Stand Lace stuff.

If I sent you a picture, could/would you help digitize it? I'm not have ANY luck using the digitizing program.

My old Brother machine finally died, but Santa brought me a Singer Futura XL-400, now I can do some Large embroidery projects.

    Matt

It was great. I drank too much though (darn cheers program)

Yeah, email me the picture and details and I can try.

  4. But if you give they your big baggage, and they bring it after a few hours directly at your room, how they will check that ??

I don't think they actually check every bag. I know there are dogs down there, and lots of conveyor belts...

And I once got bags at 6pm, so it's not always a few hours

  5. Okay. So you have the right to take a Champagne to the Ship. Will they check this at you baggage ? The procedure which the X-ray and Scann i already know. Thank you

Yes, you may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per adult in cabin as well as 12 soda/water

Must be in carry on luggage...and they will just look at it to make sure that you don't have more than allowed (or cans of beer in soda cases)

  6. What a Stupid Thing ... You can not buy after they 15 more Drinks ? So that means if you are at 5pm on the Limit ( Soda, Cocktails etc ) you can drink NOTHING at the rest of the Day ? How stupid is That ? Idk if i will buy this packege if that is true. Also, if they say " There is no Drink Limit " at the reception an they is one, there we have a big problem ..

When you get to port, there will be guys with big cages to bring luggage to ship (customary to tip these porters)....hand bags and carryon (must fit through a X-ray machine like airport) can be carried on and you will go through metal detector and bag through X-ray machine...they can search the bag if they see liquids (booze bottles and cans). Later in the afternoon your big bags will be left outside your cabin door

  7. As a CCL shareholder, I'd like to thank you for this! :p

You're willing to pay more for something you probably won't use, just so you won't feel quilty every time you order a drink? Seriously?

This is just incomprehensible to me. You spend the money for the drink program if it saves you money. That is the only sensible reason to purchase it. Really. Trust me. I'm an accountant. ;)

I mostly only drink wine while cruising. Beer doesn't leave enough room for al the food I want to eat, and I normally just purchase a wine package and bring on my one bottle. And I wouldn't want to feel compelled to drink more just to get my money's worth!

There's no way I would purchase this package unless I was positive it would save me money. I prefer to spend my money on other things. Every dollar I don't spend on something I don't need is another dollar that can go toward my next cruise. And, yes, I prefer to actually remember my cruise when I get home! :D

I'm surprised that those who want >15 drinks a day aren't more interested in spending their vacation dollars at an all-inclusive. That $100/day per couple that you're spending on these cards would go a long way toward paying for your room at an AI.

While I agree with you that light drinkers probably don't need this program, I also agree with the PP that sometimes you think twice before buying a drink and with this program, the thought is gone.

I always did one excursion with open bar at a beach club and usually a CC meet and greet with open bar for 2 hours...those days I would tend not to drink anything else because I wanted to not 'waste money'. The meet and greets I always tend to drink too quickly and not enjoy it...with this program you can already plan on your expenses and get a drink when you wish and not have to think twice.

As for the AIs, I'll probably try one in the future, but also like cruising and being in a new place each day.

  8. My husband was cut off at his 15th drink on our last sea day. He wasn't even slurring his speech. They do tell you verbally, at the time you are purchasing the Cheers program that they will access you at the 15th drink but they don't..... they just cut you off.

    Hey smokey,

We're you able to take a pic or scan the flier they gave you? Just curious as we will be on the pride in 9 days! Can't wait!

  9. OK now I'm really confused about whether frozen drinks are covered or not.

Some have said they are part of the package because they are within the $10 cost per drink. Others have said you can get a DOD as long as it's not in the souveneir cup. Now I'm hearing you can't get a frozen drink (sorry not sure what is meant by froo froo).

So if I want to get a frozen Marguerita Or strawberry daiquiri, are these types of drinks part of this package or not?

Yes, it includes all alcoholic drinks, including frozen, ass long as it is under $10 (pre-tip)...

Everyone is misinterpreting the fact you can't get "Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic cocktails". This policy means no red bulls, bottled waters, speciality coffees....

  10. They didn't tell me about the 15 drink limit when I was on the phone with them either. They tell you about it when you purchase it on board. I have the rule form yet if you would like me to take a picture of it & post it.

That would be nice if you could post it, thanks....

  11. Partially off topic, but not really...

I was going to ask about "floaters" but as a not very seasoned or in-the-know drinker: Is a floater when you order something like a frozen margarita, and then add a shot of Patron on top of it?

So in order to do this with the Cheers program, I'd probably want to order a shot of Patron, and then five minutes later order a frozen margarita?

Yup, that is excatly what a floater is...

To work with the Cheers program, that's what you would have to do. But it seems like people that have used the program that make nice with the bartenders that the bartender will give you both and just ring the second drink in after the five minutes.

I understand the idea of ordering the FROZEN drink second, but I feel with myself I would have to order hte margarita first and then the shot after five minutes because I think if the shot was sitting right in front of me, I would get tempted.

  12. What a bad System !! Only 15 Drinks ? That is Realy quickly !! What a stupid System !!! Now i'm angry.. Realy .. At a other Cruisesship, there was also an ALL YOU CAN DRINK, but WITHOUT A LIMIT !! That was better like that Stupid Thing ..

Calm down, the poster above you has 1 post so far on the boards. It could be a truthful post, but most likely they are just being a jerk posting incorrect info to anger people.

There is not way they would count a Bloody Mary as two drinks....because you can only order one at a time. Same with a coffee drink...if you order a drink with two types of liquor, they do half a shot of each....just like you can order a Long Island and you get roughly 1/4 ounce of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec...

As for the measuring drinks, I think every time I've ordered a drink on the ship they used a shot glass and measured the liquor.

Like the other posters have said from personal experience using the program, don't act like a drunk fool and you won't get cut off.

  13. Well , the Hats in Miami are really patting themselves on the back now .

Let's see ,say one solo in one room, four other friends in the next.

The solo buys the cheers package and one or two share the room later or not, doesn't matter.

So now they examine the solo after fifteen drinks, and he surely is not intoxicated as he has only had a few drinks ,the others went to his friends.

Thats about the way its going to flow around spring break :p.

I'm sure that they know sharing will happen and that is why it's still being rolled out in test phase.

But also, unlimited or not, I'm sure that if someone gets up to the thirty drinks in a day and is still sober that carnival would be all up on that and catch them sharing and revoke, without refund, the package.
