  1. Princess used to accept e-mails (with attachments), but stopped that. Much harder to attach a computer virus to a FAX.

Emailed, a few months back, my DD-214 for veteran's credit for my Jan 11 sailing. Had no problem with email/attachment, and credit showed up within 24 hours.

  2. in 1995 I had beef tenderloin wrapped in a crust (Beef Wellington) on a HAL ship that to this day I remember. Is there a dish like this on the Regal Princess??

Regal serves Beef Wellington on the second formal night of a seven night cruise. However, as it was the one meal I was genuinely looking forward to last week, I can unfortunately report that it has slid in quality. Slid way down. Very disappointing.

  3. I have seen senior prices on a travel site. But Princess does not offer it on every cruise and a lot less than other CCI lines.

I would be most interested in knowing which cruise(s) Princess does offer a senior discount? I just assumed they did not as I have never seen it on the Princess website, and the joke has always been that Princess is "God's waiting room" and the senior contingent makes up a good portion of revenue.

  4. This is a question I have shot off to Princess, but while I wait for their reply, I thought I'd ask here and actually get the right answer! Will be on Regal Jan 11, and there have been some questions asked on the Roll Call board in re a M&M.

According to the M&M section here on CC, "Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle parties will be held on all Princess Cruises sailings. Please check the daily activities program, called Princess Patters, for notification regarding the day, location and time of the event."

I have a full set of Patters from the Nov 9 sailing, and there was no mention of one. Can any of you fine folks tell me if Princess still gives this amenity to CC members?

  5. Perhaps it is thinking that you are in Canada? Make sure it knows you are in California.

I don't think Princess IT is all that smart. I can change my state from SD to anything else, keep my SD zip, and Princess accepts it. I do not think My Princess has relational fields.

If the problem persists, call them.

  6. I've asked Princess when they will be homeporting a ship in South Dakota to save me airfare, but so far no response!

As for first cruise, ours was on US Lines in Hawaii. Made all the reservations myself directly with the cruise line (from an ad I saw in Washington Post). I was very satisfied with the service received; however, had I been smart enough to use a TA, I might have gotten a few perks.

Definitely use a TA, but also follow your instincts. After all, it is your money!

  7. Definitely not a good thing! I would send an email to customerrelations@princess.com and tell them of your experience. We are seeing this complaint much too often and it really needs to be addressed.

I wholeheartedly agree this is poor customer service. I have always avoided this "poor" service by sticking with traditional dining on all cruises. Service in MDR has been sparkling, food superb, you know when dinner is served, there are multiple seatings, and there is no wait.

And the problem is ... ?

  8. I hate getting involved in tux/formal discussions, but here's my two cents (and I know I'll regret it in the morning!).

I dressed in a suit and tie for 40 years of my working life, and never tired of it. Tux on all six of my past cruises, along with a sport jacket, a couple of dress shirts and ties.

You want to bring a tux, not bring a tux (or suit) - that's up to you. But for us, a cruise is an experience and a memory, not just a mode of transportation.

  9. I recall - way back when - when Princess was affectionately known as "God's waiting room." Personally, I prefer more mature (read: older) cruisers. I still enjoy going to the clubs and (trying) to keep awake into the wee hours. I think the Princess demographic tends to be on the mature side, but there is still plenty of room for the 30 somethings who want a finer cruise experience. Maturity is a blessing - age is just a state of mind.
