When NCL switched from Pepsi to Coke, they included Coke Zero and that made me very happy. I'm debating whether or not to get a soda package on our upcoming Princess cruise because I strongly prefer Coke 0, but can stomach the diet as long as it isn't served in the can. I'm glad we can still carry on sodas and waters on Princess.  We'll at a minimum bring diet mt dew for hubby since he doesn't like colas really at all.

I don't drink a lot of alcohol, but when I want a rum and coke zero, diet coke doesn't taste the same. It's drinkable but not as enjoyable. I also wish they had diet ginger ale for the occasional whiskey ginger I like. I try to avoid excess sugar in my diet, and drinking sugary soda and sweet cocktails is one way to consume too much sugar too quickly. That's my one and only complaint about my first world problem today.

27 days is long time but we missed doing our 50th anniversary cruise due to Covid and this will be our 55th anniversary.  The longest cruise we had been on previously was an 18 day Venice to Ft. Lauderdale TA on the Ruby for our 40th anniversary.

27 day cruise sounds fabulous. I've only done week to 11 day cruises and hope to someday take a longer cruise. I hope you have a wonderful anniversary trip!

Will you be driving anywhere on shore?

I won't be doing any driving, just using it to go ashore in Puerto Rico and 2 other ports. But from reading the replies my passport is the important thing and that's valid for a few more years.

  4. Hi everyone. I am going on a Carribean cruise this Summer. I have my passport ready, and my drivers license as well. My drivers license expires a few weeks after my trip on my birthday. Does Princess require my drivers license to be like my passport, which is not expiring soon after the trip? Trying to figure out if my drivers license is acceptable or needs to be renewed earlier than my birthday. Thanks.

Original post second paragraph.  “ Included in the Princess Premier Package”.  I’m finding it difficult to get all worked up about Pitbull’s vodka!  Grey Goose suffices for me.  It will be tough to beat Whispering Angel, too!

I am so hoping there is Whispering Angel available on my upcoming cruise on the Enchanted in August. On my last Celebrity cruise in 2018 Whispering Angel was advertised but sold out for both legs of the cruise. I don't remember what I ordered instead but it was no substitute.

  6. If this is now how Pasta Primavera is made at Sabatinis, with a thick tomato cream sauce, that is very disappointing. We have a reservation for Sabatinis and if the Primavera with fresh vegetables is no longer available, they need to take it off the menu and stop getting peoples hopes up about receiving traditional Primavera. Pasta with red sauce isn't my thing. I may have to rethink our upcoming res and change it to Catch by Rudy.

I think they prefer that 2 people using their Plus package dining credits not take up 4 casual dining seatings.

That aspect of the sharing situation hadn't occurred to me. Thank you for pointing that out.

I realize Vines is a casual dining venue. I was giving our experience in a casual dining venue which was that we were not allowed to “share” and not each use up one of our casual dining allowances.

Just off the Sapphire on 5/7 and we had Plus.  Wanted to just share a pizza at Alfredo’s like we’ve done before the “casual dining” designation and were told, “No.”.
Although we were each eligible for 2 casual meals, after going twice and sharing just pizza, we had no more meals left.  Crazy!
So, if you sail with Plus, regardless of the length of the cruise, you get 2 casual meals and in our case, sharing used up 1 meal for each of us.  On a 32-day cruise we used up 4 credits with 2 visits.

We realize we could have each ordered the prix fixe meal and wasted 2 appetizers, 2 desserts, and one whole pizza each time but that made no sense.

Bottom line - YMMV when wanting to share a meal.

It is so strange they charge each person for a full fixed price meal when only 1 pizza is consumed by 2. Do they really prefer that people order more food than they can eat and toss half of it away?

That is true, and I was sad on that cruise.  We have been doing HAL for the last couple of years, where they serve you at the buffet, and I must say, I really prefer it.  It's not any slower, IMO.  I'm glad Princess is going that route on the Sun.

I've been on several cruise lines, HAL is my favorite buffet not so much because of their food offerings but because they portion the food and serve it to you on the line. They even make your salad at the salad bar. No handling of utensils used by hundreds before me, some unwashed hands as well. Shipndip60 has the right idea of bringing some disposable gloves in case we go to the buffet on our Enchanted cruise in August.

Are you on Sun Princess? We are on the 6/15 cruise and are also unable to make any reservations. I understand from these boards that no one sailing after May has had them open up. I agree, very frustrating. And think of the logjam if multiple cruises open up on the same day. I hope we get this straightened out before embarkation day or it will be a free for all, not a relaxing or pleasant way to start a vacation. Yes, is is frustrating, especially because the other Princess ships seem to allow dining reservations after final payment. I am Platinum with Princess and that hasn't helped at all (other ships allow Platinum and Elite to reserve dining earlier.)

I'm sailing in August on the Enchanted Princess and my dining reservations were made in March after final payment.

  11. My two sisters and I will be traveling to the Carribean on Enchanted Princess this Summer. I suggested we book plus packages for ourselves. My sisters decided to go all out and get the Premium packages. I've cruised before and first couple of cruises I did ala carte payment for extras. The last few cruises I did basic packages, and I liked that, paying one price for the basic things I wanted without doing math every day. This time I did end up booking the premium package for myself though. Partly it does make my frugal bone ache, as I usually don't like to spend money for luxuries when it may be better spent for needs rather than wants. I admit engaging in activities with my sisters was a deciding factor because hanging out with them all week means I will want to go where they go when we do things together. We definitely will want pictures, something I don't usually buy. Hopefully getting into fitness classes will be available, another thing I'd love to try but won't pay for on a cruise when there's a gym available. I will use wifi even though it's just one device, not four. The humongous Premium desserts look overwhelming. If I can't get a simple scoop of unadorned gelato this is the extra that will go unused.
