We are loving the Moon despite mask-gate 😂. Just an update if it hasn't been posted already we can now sit at the bar and chat to staff 👍 and there are 299 guests on board. The space and ease of getting a seat in Salt bar is special 😍

Fireworks were great
It's a lovely ship although I wouldn't want to be on anything larger
Larger can be fun, the itinerary is important to us. We weren't sure about Greece but today has been wonderful. Dinner in La Dame was beyond expectations

Muse no contest, we were on her last voyage prelockdown 2020 in Aus and NZ... So fab it's imprinted in my memory forever xx

Wishing you a BIG Bon Voyage😃........if you go to the SALT BAR tell Carlos hello from me🙂
Hi Lois we certainly will 😘

Well that's good as a significant number of Brits joined the Moon with us yesterday so either they were unaware of any insurance issues or like us, prepared to risk it 😉.
The fireworks were a nice send off last night.

Wednesday? Are you sailing on The Moon?🙂
Oh yes, been building for this since we had the March Bermuda to Barcelona trip cancelled then the end August Italy trip cancelled. Having experienced the Muse we just couldn’t resist the Moon

Welcome to the "New Normal" 🥳
All our COVID docs loaded to SS and to BA ready for Wednesday!
The only new ‘clothes’ that we have bought for this cruise are 3 new masks each to go with our various outfits 😂- 3

Was told yesterday that 75% was the number they were hoping for but had not booked nearly close to that. I join the July 28 cruise - have sailed SS for over 20 years.
Hey, we will see you on board then 🤞👋

So excited to get this email earlier today from SS guest confirmation team
To build your excitement further, we are pleased to inform you that we will host Silver Moon's official naming ceremony on board on July 28—the day of your embarkation—in Athens.
The intimate event will be screened live in selected venues throughout the ship from 6:30pm. You will also have the option of viewing the ceremony on the TV system in your suite. Our talented bar tenders will serve celebratory cocktails, as we raise a glass to mark the occasion. A commemorative feast will follow, with selected restaurants honouring Silver Moon's naming with special menus.
Please note, the evening's dress code will be informal: dresses or trouser suits for ladies; jackets for gentlemen, with ties optional.- 1

I found the government document I referred to, with the staging dates.
Section 32 covers cruise travel, domestic and international. It refers to cruises from the UK but I think it may be a reliable guide to what dates FCDO may or may not update.
The first checkpoint on 28 June didn’t stimulate any update to the advice so I wonder if it even took place 🤔

The FCO FCDO cruise advice page has not been updated since April but the advice against travel to amber list countries (Greece included) was removed today.
We travel on 28th and we are not going to cancel. If the meeting occurs whilst we are away that’s progress of sorts 🙄
-
Up until today’s news the PCR test from amber list countries was the recommendation on the gov.uk website.
Until they actually post the rules proper, on 19th July I will be prepared to have to do the PCR.The trick now is to avoid exposure and end up testing positive before we board. 🤞

Two weeks until e pack our bags to join the Moon, honestly cannot wait now 👏
we will need an onboard PCR test before we fly back to the UK but I spoke to SS onFriday about it and we just book it with our butler once we are on board and will be allocated a time to go to the med centre 3 days before disembarkation and the sample analysis is done on board and our result issued next day . The cost will be added to our on account $120 per test.
couldn’t be easier 👍🏻

I have not seen m and m's.
I am told they are in crew bar.
We have truffle cashews and some other melange of spicy stuff.
We do have the usual jewelry hawkers aboard.
And the sandal guy.
Thank goodness no art sales.
Glad to see that the man from Sorrento is on board. I had sandals made on the last cruise on the Muse before total lockdown in March last year, he was expecting to go straight onto the Moon but of course he has had a long wait. I look forward to catching up with him in 4 weeks time 👏 oh and truffle cashews sound divine 😉

We have just had an email from Silversea confirming that it is no longer compulsory to do the escorted shore excursions but that 1 free one per port is still included in the fare. We will now review our choices and maybe change one or more so we can self explore. 😁😎

Do you expect Greece to be on the green list by then?
Yes I do but we are going even if it’s on the amber list, as 10 days (poss reduced to 5) isolation at home is doable for us.

I do not know if all pax passed the test.
It was conducted in a tent building.
It was very hot.
There were three swabber people in full protective gear in separate cubicles.
I wont describe it all unless you really want to know the procedure.
We waited an hour in that tent before we received our negative results.
By the time we got aboard it was 3:30 pm ( we were not permitted to enter the tent area until 2 pm).
A very very long and exhausting first day.
I might add the airport procedure to enter Greece was a breeze. Just had to show fax card and the locator number.
So emotional to see your photos and reports thank you. We will be there from 28th July and if it is still only around 200 guests then we simply cannot wait! 😎👏 we can put up with whatever testing and boarding procedures are necessary for the joy and experience that will follow 😍

The NHS app is easy to use and useful- as les37b suggested. It’s stupendous to have such convenient, timely and secure access to one’s Covid vaccination data.
We are heading for Silversea Moon cruise in mid-July and have completed checkin requirements. We last used their site 15 months ago for our last cruise, but this is far better. More comprehensive, organized and responsive as far as what needs to be uploaded, added such as insurance details, “check” acknowledged etc. I uploaded my NHS vax record but intend to do so again closer to sailing (and as Silversea likely requires) to have a fresh QR is current.
This all feels great! Things are looking up! I anticipate a quick pier side check in (Silversea offered slots and I chose the first at 14:00) and a fast test prior to boarding. So what’s yet to be done before heading to Greece is just the country’s locator form. Great!
Happy and healthy sailing!
Following your post I looked at the Health Acknowledgment section of the guest info on my Silversea and have uploaded the vacc certificates successfully , however I don’t see anywhere to book a pier side test slot. Did you book your slot online or by another method?
I note that the 2D barcode on the vacc certificates has an expiry date prior to our boarding date so another download will probably be necessary 🙄

Now that’s what I needed to see ❤️. Such a wet and chilly spring here. Just over 10 weeks before we board 🤞

Hi, I am sailing in July and haven't received anything in regard to details about on board protocols.
I plan on bringing 3 or 4 masks with me and will just carry one with me at all times.
Yes and now we will have to think about matching our masks to our outfits 🤣. At least I won’t be bringing a full makeup bag this time...just not necessary 😉

That's if countries are willing to accept visitors from plague Island!
We are expecting Greece to be on the Amber list meaning we have to self isolate at home for 10 days on returning. If it switches to red before July we will be cancelling as there is no way we will be forking out for quarantine in a travel lodge 🤌🏻

Greece in July and August is going to be biggest traffic jam on Earth. Afloat.
I think the North Sea and Irish Sea will be a bit like the M25 too 🙄
