  1. You need to get off at Kongens Nytorv and walk from there.

They are currently building a second metro station at Kongens Nytorv for the City Circle Line so the area is a little bit messy but there are no problems in getting around.

You should be able to locate both places on a map, the bus stops are located on the road that is located next to the current metro station.

I can map it out when I get home from London.

Thank you, Danish Viking. Will we need to use stairs (or hopefully elevator) to exit the area before walking to Nyhavn? Just a little concerned about handling the luggage on stairs.

  2. The easiest but also most expensive way is to take a taxi or cruise shuttle.

    But but but.

Instead you take bus 26 towards Ålholm Plads to Østerport station.

As you can see the first bus departs at 06:06.

If you need to use a elevator you then need to get off the bus at Folke Bernadottes Allé and not Østerport St, Sløjfen because from the backside of the station there are only stairs.

At this map its the one that says 26 Ålholm Plads, The other 26 bus top that says holdeplads (meaning bus stop) is the one without elevators.

From here you take any train heading for Københavns Lufthavn (airport), Malmö, Göteborg, Kalmar or Kristiansstad.

    The trains depart at XX:01, XX:10, XX:21, XX:30, XX:41 and XX:50.

Then you get off at Ørestad (the stop after the central station), Crowne Plaza is the tall black tower across the motorway.

This only costs 24 kroner for a 2 zone ticket.

A taxi will probably be in the 300 kroner range.

    Hi Danish Viking!

We will be getting off the Royal Princess at Oceankaj on Friday, May 23 and plan to take the 26 Bus to the Hotel Bethel at 22 Nyhavn. What bus stop should we get off at and will it be a street we step off on to or will it be a station where we may have to deal with stairs to exit the building. We will be pulling our luggage.

Thank you for all your advice! I'm so excited to start exploring Copenhagen.

  3. Not to be rude, but this board is for the purpose of Danish Viking sharing useful information, not for people to "chat". There are plenty of other boards for that. Please don't make us read through family histories when we're looking for information.

I understand completely and did not plan to do any more family history posting, but the only way I know of to contact Jan is with a posting here in hopes that she will email me so we can share a common interest.

  4. When we booked our cruise I was totally lost as we have never been to Europe but Denmark is our dream , as it is our heritage, we are Sorensen's

    Hi Jan,

I am also a Sorensen! All my Sorensen ancestors lived in Copenhagen. We will be in Copenhagen 3 days post-cruise at the end of May and I have already marked on my maps the churches where baptisms/marriages took place (Trinity and Our Savior's) and I have addresses where ancestors lived in early 1800's in Christianshavn, according to census records. Doubt that the buildings they lived in are still there but we can walk the area anyway.

Do you have information about your Sorensen ancestors? Perhaps we are related! I grew up in the midwest, too. My email is angellhouse at gmail dot com

  5. Hi Danish Viking!

We are staying post cruise at the Hotel Bethel in Nyhavn for 3 nights. We will have 72-hour Copenhagen Cards, timing the start of the card for Friday late morning so that we can finish our 72-hour period with our transport to the airport on Monday morning, May 26.

With each of us pulling a wheeled suitcase, how would we use the Copenhagen card for the transportation to the airport from the Hotel Bethel? Bus? Train? What stations?

    Thanks for all your advice!

  6. Hello, I been following your review for a very long time, are you still posting,it would be nice to get to the end of it before a year has past. There is slow, but your postings are beyond slow, I would love to read all the way to the end of your cruise experience before I go on my next cruise to Hawaii. Just please let us readers know if you are done or even better get to the end of it soon. Your last posting was on page 7, it is becoming harder and harder to find you.

So you don't have to search pages to find the thread, simply subscribe to it and then you will get notification, if you choose that option, when a new posting on the thread appears. Instead of choosing email notifications, though, I simply click on "User CP" (User Control Panel) toward the top of the computer screen on the left-hand side. It then displays all the threads that I subscribe to that have new postings.

  7. Hi PunkiC,

Thank you for doing this LIVE from. It has been very informative and we are getting more excited every day as our cruise on the Star rapidly approaches on January 4.

By now you probably have received the disembarkation schedule, which is always a sad point in the cruise....:(

Would you please report as to what time Princess has scheduled the Express Walk Off to begin. We plan on carrying off our own luggage and need to give a pick up time for our travel once off the ship.

    Thank you!

  8. The art decorating the corridors is beautiful. Some of our CC folks are amazingly talented. I saw one this morning of Moscow and recognized the name of some I know. That made it extra special.

    Hi Pia,

While on the South Am. 49-day Circle cruise we visited in the HC and talked about our photo that is suppose to be displayed somewhere on the Royal. It's the Tower of Pisa with a statue in front of it. If names are attached to it, our last name is Angell.

On the wild chance you do happen to see it, please let me know its location.

Have a great trip and I look forward to your Live From every day!

Joyce (Tina & Ken's ziplining friends from the Grand South America Circle cruise)
