  1. Not for this Canadian.

Also, NOT for this Canadian... everything was in U.S. funds, for our upcoming Mexican cruise ( February)... so, we just will not be purchasing any drink packages , pictures, etc; as we usually do, also less trips to the casino!!!

however, I'm sure we'll still have a great time. cheers!:)

  2. You will be fine! Super cruise, great location out onto the deck in a flash!

Have a great time and come back and tell us about it!

Thank you again, for your re-assurance,....... this will be our 6th Alaska cruise, last one was on the Westerdam in June 2013, and we always find something different to see....... and Yes! I'll certainly post a comment, when we return. :)

  3. Now you have me concerned. We have a cabin next to one of the white squares that runs from the bottom floor to the top. I have never heard of an engine pipe shaft. DH says shouldn't that go from the engine to the propellers and he thought the white square might be smoke stacks.

Anyone know what is hidden in the repeating white space between the middle and back elevators on about half of the ships?

Hi Lindaler,... now I too am quite concerned, as we have booked an Alaska cruise on the Zaandam , and our cabin is # 3383 cat; H..... hopefully we won't be subjected to the kitchen noise & vibration, that our c.c. friend mentioned

  4. Agreed. Very generic. Clearly they're afraid to acknowledge Christ's Birthday, yet they're not afraid to take advantage of the "holiday" to advertise.

    How lame. :(

I totally agree,... isn't THAT the reason for the "Holiday"??? :)

    A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE.

  5. Hi Ruth, I know that you have been so helpful to so many others, regarding their cabin situation, so, hopefully you can give us a few pointers regarding the cabin that we have booked on the Zaandam,it is H CAT # 3383 , which I understand is in the Lower Promenade deck,.... the questions being, window or porthole, obstructed or full view, and hopefully quiet? Thank you, :)

  6. Thanks!

My friend is in a power chair.....is there a threshold at these steel doors?

Hi Sean! I finally found you, my friend, .. I had misplaced your address, and I have been checking the boards, the reason being, I have a picture of you & Mike, that we took on our last trip to Alaska, and I was going to try to send it to you.

Tom& I were on the Westerdam, in 2011, on deck 8 ( navigation deck) cabin #8141, and we were situated right beside the outer door, to the small deck, which really was quite private, ... so to answer your question Sean, the door is very heavy, but, I'm sure you could handle it, and there was a small lip, up and over the threshold, which I'm sure would allow Mike to pass over.

Good to see, that you are heading back to Alaska in May 2014, and I think you will enjoy the Norwegian Sun, we were on her in 2008,.......... we will be on the Zaandam to Alaska also, on the 16th May 2014.

Give Mike a hug for us, a Happy Thanksgiving to you both.

    cheers, Rebecca:)

  7. We're thinking about a cruise on the Zaandam. Has anyone been on her since she got out of drydock? I'm curious if anything was refurbished and how your cruise experience was. Thanks so much for the info!

Hi, yes, we too are planning an Alaska cruise on the Zaandam in May 2014, and are curious to know also, what changes have been made? we've sailed on her a few times, and enjoy the small ship experience, .... also, does anyone have an opinion on cabin#3383, on the lower promenade deck? if so, we would appreciate hearing from you, thanks

    cheers :)
